Description

SUMMARY

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of product and maintains all gages by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all ISO 9001/TS 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.

Gage Calibration:

  • Responsible for maintaining (simple gage repair) and performing calibrations within the Gage Calibration System.
  • Responsible for hardness tester adjustments between calibrations.
  • Responsible for getting quotes and sets up service dates for any outside inspection/ calibration requirements with the assistance of the purchasing department.
  • Responsible for Gage review of new and existing parts, as well as, Gage Quoting requests to Gage Suppliers and follow up with Gage Requisition to Purchasing using the ERP system.
  • Act as the Quality Department lead for preventative maintenance and maintenance on QA equipment, as well as, Gage repair and maintenance.
  • Responsible for conducting and leading Gage R & R activities.
  • Responsible for training new employees on measurement instruments, as well as, the trainer for new employees to the Quality Department.
  • Review problems or solutions with other QA personnel during the event and at shift change.
  • Must have the ability to set-up and operate as well as train employees on the following: scales, hardness testers, Bench Center, Tinius Olsen, Manual CMM, Brown and Sharp DCC CMM, Adcole, Part specific gages, handheld gages and devices, band saw, computer, pocket surf, gage blocks, magnometer, M&M Tester, Mahr Surface & Perthometer, Impact Testers, Sunnen Gage, Air Gage, Brown and Sharp Boxes, Dyer gages, and Gleason Roll Tester.
  • Duties of this role also includes the ability to perform all the duties of a Lab Technician - Class B when required.
  • Ability to learn and perform and provide back up support for CMM duties as required
  • Ability to learn and perform Non-Conforming Material process to assist in disposition, sorting coordination and flow of non-conforming materials and provide back up support as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus six months experience as a Lab Technician Class B or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be willing to attend and complete training classes and seminars as required. Computer experience is required. Must possess good people skills, be self-motivated, and self-driven with the ability to multi-task.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in Quality Assurance is usually moderate and loud on the production floor.
