Description

The Process Improvement Engineer is part of our Continuous Improvement team, and will analyze data, make observations, engage operators, and help implement plans for waste elimination and production process optimization. This will include seeking out new ways to maximize efficiencies and work safer to improve our manufacturing processes.

They will work on process improvements, production capabilities, and automation projects, both as a team member and team leader, interacting with all stakeholders to understand and develop processes that integrate new and existing technology and automation.

This position plays a key role in the development and implementation of manufacturing process improvements that drive new performance levels, improve quality, consistency, and cost.

Essential Functions

  • Provide operational support to all plant departments to assist with problem solving, and corrective actions
  • Collaborates with Engineering, site Operations Managers, and Lean Champion to identify areas in need of process optimization and/or standardization
  • Analyzes identified processes in detail using lean tools to identify problem areas, assess feasibility, and recommend potential solutions
  • Fully manages and/or participates in implementation of solutions including the training of necessary staff and assist with updating process documentation.
  • Strictly follows all equipment installation, operation, and maintenance safety protocols including LOTO, PPE.
  • Aligning technical expertise and asset knowledge to facilitate delivery of the business plans in a cost-effective manner recognizing business priorities.
  • Support operations by leading and directing technical activities necessary to solve problems encountered from molding through shipping

Travel

Frequent travel between locations is required, some overnight travel.

Required Education and Experience

Post-Secondary technical degree plus at least 10 years in a manufacturing facility or an equivalent combination of both training and education

Minimum of 10 years die setter experience on multi action Molding and Sizing presses ranging from 100 to 880 tons.

Minimum of 10 years with robotic interfacing, ability to make program adjustments, reteach positions and trouble shoot problems.

Preferred Education and Experience

BS in Engineering or related technical field

15+ years manufacturing experience in die setting, robotics and a process improvement role

  • An organized and structured approach to tasks and project management
  • Continuous improvement experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment
  • Experience in applying Lean manufacturing techniques
