Educational requirements include a bachelor’s degree in accounting. CMA, CPA/CPA candidate a plus.
Experience requirements include a minimum of five to seven years of supervisory and accounting experience with increasing responsibilities. Some accounting management and/or public accounting experience preferred.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP with some knowledge of GAAS or previous experience working with government organizations.
Thorough knowledge of the governmental accepted accounting principles, methods and techniques of bookkeeping, accounting, internal controls and financial reporting.
Skill in interpreting financial data and developing operating and capital budgets. Skill in training, supervising, and evaluating the work of others.
Skill in responding to public inquiries and internal requests with a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism.
Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with the public, other employees, appointed officials, governmental agencies, and vendors.
Ability to critically assess situations and solve problems, maintain confidentiality and work effectively under stress, within deadlines and changes in work priorities.
Advanced computer and software skills with expert level MS Office and data manipulation, analysis, and interpretation skills. Solid experience with QuickBooks software desired.
Strong attention to detail required. Ability to maintain accurate records, identify and correct errors, create insightful reports, and perform mathematical computations with accuracy.

Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with customers, employees, governmental agencies, and vendors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and by telephone, read regular and small print, view, and produce written and electronic documents and enter data on a computer keyboard with repetitive keystrokes. The employee must lift and/or move items of moderate to heavy weight (such as banker’s boxes).
The typical work environment of this job is an office setting where the noise level is moderate and sometimes loud.
