Purpose of Division:

Information Technology & Services (IT&S) is responsible for planning, design, implementation, and support of NeighborWorks’ enterprise wide business applications and management of information technology resources and services. IT&S provides business applications and supporting services to identify, gather and efficiently organize the data that is required to support the business activities of NeighborWorks America (NWA) and its affiliated NeighborWorks Organizations. NeighborWorks America undertakes several major capital budget IT project initiatives in order to meet NWA’s current and future mission, goals, objectives and ongoing business requirements.

Position Summary:

The Senior Vice President, Information Technology & Services’ role is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. The SVP, IT directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality and business development. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the organization's information technology and systems.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages and directs the development of operational policies and procedures governing implementation and management of IT programs throughout NeighborWorks. Oversees the scope, time, cost, and quality of each program and project undertaken.
  • Manages the design, development and maintenance of NeighborWorks’ computer systems. This includes, but is not limited to, managing and budgeting (short-term and strategic) for the acquisition of computer hardware and software, the evaluation of technology, testing, migration planning, disaster recovery, security, data storage, records management and implementation plans.
  • Develops concepts and plans for information technology systems and programs that will support operations throughout NeighborWorks into the future. Identifies future technology requirements and devises strategies to meet anticipated needs. Establishes strategic goals and objectives for the program, proposes new program approaches and components, analyzes resource implications, and advocates acquisition of budget and other resources needed for implementation. Provides recommendations for obtaining top quality IT systems, equipment, and services within expected fund limitations.
  • Manages security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment. Oversees information security policy development and maintenance; security policy education and awareness activities; compliance with NeighborWorks America Information Management security policy; information security risk management/assessment; and, vulnerability assessment and remediation.
  • Creates a cost-benefit analysis as well as supporting a detailed definition of data requirements and departmental workflows .
  • Continually evaluates IM core processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness using recognized process improvement methodologies.
  • Provides advice and guidance to executives and management on long- and short-range planning, coordination and use of resources, and methods to implement new or revised systems and services.
  • Identifies all actions necessary to ensure uninterrupted availability and performance of NeighborWorks IM systems and equipment.
  • Works with the CIO to determine the necessary level, composition, and expertise of the staff. Provides leadership and direction to staff to ensure the planning, direction, and coordination of major information technology projects.
  • Directs the development and operation of computer and information technology and applications that support NeighborWorks’ regulatory responsibilities
  • Participates in vendor contract negotiations for all new computer equipment and software purchased for the corporation.
  • Directs the annual review of all information systems to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Works with the CIO in the development of a five-year strategic information systems plan and maintain a short-term (1-2 year) plan for managing information technology that is consistent with the overall objectives and strategic plan for NeighborWorks.
  • Serves as expert in the planning aspect of technological acquisitions.
  • Directs the development of and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for continuity of critical applications in the event of a disaster or emergency.

Position Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Education: Undergraduate IT degree or equivalent combination of education training and/or related experience. Advanced degree preferred.

(b) Experience: At least 10 years of IT management and leadership experience.

(c) Licenses, Certifications: N/A
(d) Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Mastery of IT theories, principles, concepts, standards, and practices sufficient to develop new theories, concepts, standards, and methods in diverse IM specialty areas.
  • Ability to effectively oversee IT budget and acquisition activities.
  • Experience in ERP and CRM solutions.
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing complex projects.
  • Strong leadership and management skills; Demonstrated experience in leading and managing employees at various levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to think strategically, and to effectively develop, communicate, and execute plans.
  • Strong collaboration skills: Ability to coordinate the input and priorities of multiple players.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; enjoys taking ownership of and solving problems.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
