Electrical Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and support company values.
  • Assist and train other personnel as needed.
  • Operate a forklift or crane when necessary.
  • Configure PCs with necessary product software.
  • Work effectively as a team member contributing to a positive workplace.
  • Solder, install, and wire circuit boards, industrial motors, and motor controls.
  • Perform panel and enclosure modifications using power and hand tools as necessary.
  • Perform basic work area housekeeping tasks and ensure that work area is neat and safe.
  • Perform basic programming, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic modules.
  • Inspect project work for quality control and assurance. Document and correct quality issues.
  • Manage assembly time to ensure completion of assigned projects within the specified time frame.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers or others to identify, define, or anticipate and solve developing problems.
  • Prepare work by reviewing instructions, blueprint specifications, drawings, and parts lists. Identify and gather required tools and materials.
  • Be an active participant in company safety program. Follow established safety guidelines at all times. Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement culture, including Lean initiatives
  • Build, wire, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair custom electronic panels, components, parts, equipment and systems on most or all varieties of products. Includes wiring, installing, testing and troubleshooting panels on large industrial machinery.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of motors and motor control concepts.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with hand tools, and precision measuring and inspection devices.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and to make metric system conversions.
  • Read and work from prints, schematics, technical bulletins, bills of materials, and hand drawings.
  • Strong technical understanding of principles of electricity, and knowledge of electrical and electronic components.
  • Ability to use electrical/electronic testing and measuring equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and voltage and current calibrators
  • Strong electronic assembly skills, including soldering, wire marking, wire terminations, component placement, panel builds, and software and controls integration.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical school ideal. Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in wiring panels and machines. Basic manufacturing experience including strong understanding of electrical with a low voltage background.

Work Environment

The employee works in a manufacturing assembly environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
