Job Summary

Maintains Building Environment and Accessibility by maintaining building equipment, heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems; maintaining fleet vehicles, maintaining grounds; removing trash; recycling materials; disposing of liquid waste; securing building and its occupants; mentoring and developing Maintenance Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns
  • Supervises, mentors, and develops Maintenance Assistant
  • Maintains building climate by installing, repairing and servicing heating, ventilating and air-conditioning equipment
  • Maintains building lighting by installing and repairing wiring and fixtures
  • Maintains building equipment by installing and repairing associated and back up equipment and systems
  • Secures quotes related to maintenance and CAPEX expenses as required
  • Keeps equipment, systems, and building ready for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
  • Secures building and occupants by maintaining alarm and fire protection devices
  • Maintains system for conveying liquids and liquid waste by installing and repairing plumbing apparatus
  • Provides system for recycling materials and removing trash by providing containers and monitoring trash disposition
  • Maintains continuity between shifts by documenting maintenance actions; noting system or equipment irregularities requiring continued monitoring
  • Maintains fleet vehicles
  • Serves as lead trainer for fork trucks and cranes
  • Maintains parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts and equipment; placing and expediting orders for parts and equipment; verifying receipt of parts and equipment
  • Improves building maintenance job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications
  • Contributes to building maintenance and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.

Qualifications

  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and all employees of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel at all levels.

 

Education and/or Experience

5+ years of responsible professional experience in a manufacturing setting leading repairs and maintenance. Mentoring experience is significant plus. An Associate degree and/or apprenticeship in related field(s) is preferred. Other equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Work Environment

The employee works in a manufacturing assembly environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
