Description

Specialty Systems, Inc. (SSI) has immediate position openings for Systems Engineers, System Integrators, and Software Designers/Developers to support our Department of Defense customer at NAVAIR Pax River Headquarters in Lexington Park, Maryland. In this position you will join a technical team that is responsible for developing and decomposing system requirements, producing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts using commercially available modeling tools, and developing innovative design approaches leading to the development of highly capable and affordable Naval Aviation Systems. Openings are available for experienced system designers, MBSE professionals, and entry level candidates wishing to join the NAVAIR community and learn system design and MBSE. As a member of the SSI team, you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Navy customers systems have a direct impact on our countrys warfighting and peace-keeping capabilities. These positions, which offer career enhancement, are located at our customer site in NAVAIR at Patuxent River, MD.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Participate with Navy engineers in developing system requirements and designs that provide an advantage to our warfighters.
  • Generate complete design specifications for complex projects.
  • Perform a range of design development, analysis, and review tasks.
  • Participate in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities using commercial MBSE tools to identify program requirements and relationships, and manage the execution of the systems engineering process, including interfaces, key performance parameters, operational concepts, logical architectures, and physical architectures.
  • Coordinate and work closely with engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Directly interface with customers at all levels from concept to final design and test activities, as well as participating in design reviews and technical working group meetings.

Position Requirements

Position Qualification Requirements:

Education, Certifications and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • 1-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • A secret level clearance is required. Candidates whose clearance has been inactive for less than 2 years and can be re-activated quickly will be considered. Candidates without a security clearance may be considered. However, employment may not begin until at least an interim secret clearance is granted.

 

Technical:

  • Experience with modeling and simulation tool sets and software.
  • Experience in producing Systems Engineering Analysis reports that detail requirements analysis, analysis of alternatives, system architecture and definition, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with DOD Acquisition Life Cycle.
  • Experience with No Magic Cameo modeling toolsets, MATLAB, SIMULINK, Systems Tool Kit, and/or Solid Works.
  • Able to work both individually and within a team environment.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Occasional overtime work may be required.

 
Salary Range This position has a salary range of $85,000-$135,000, based on the candidate's match to the skill and experience.  
Travel Requirements Occasional travel may be required.
