Ponyride 1.0 was launched in 2011 by Phil Cooley and Kate Bordine to give entrepreneurs a location to build ideas, build businesses, and build a future for themselves in the City of Detroit. In 2020, Ponyride made the bold move to merge with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan to launch Ponyride 2.0 to expand its ecosystem of diverse social entrepreneurs while creating adequate resources for economic mobility.

BGCSM is currently seeking a Ponyride Director. This role supports BGCSM by furthering their vision to build an ecosystem of social impact entrepreneurs who share BGCSMs values to end poverty and drive economic mobility in the communities it serves. Recruiting and securing tenants/renters who align with BGCSMs values is a crucial responsibility of this role. Leasing/renting space to generate revenue is equally important as the Ponyride Director will have revenue targets to meet. Additional responsibilities include promoting and leasing negotiation and administration, supervising Facility Concierge staff at each club site, and coordinating with tenants and renters as needed. This role requires someone who is plugged into the community, approachable, courteous, organized, safety-minded, collaborative and is able to work all events including evenings and weekends. This person must also balance the opportunities for rentals with the needs of BGCSM in executing its own activities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing the promotion and execution of BGCSM Ponyride office spaces/rental agreements for all club locations
  • Responding to leasing inquiries in a timely, effective and proactive manner
  • Partnering with Club Directors regarding Ponyride Events and Club Events to maximize cross-collaboration opportunities
  • Scheduling and providing club tours for prospective tenants/renters
  • Negotiating leases and administering all related documentation including certificates of insurance Understanding the complex needs of different lessees and diverse clients and identifying the clients unique requirements and expectations for their space
  • Coordinating and monitoring the rental calendar and working closely with Club leadership as well as the BGCSM Leadership Team including Facilities Director and staff to ensure a cohesive overall calendar
  • Scheduling and managing employees to be present during events and being present any time other Galloway/TMS employees are not scheduled
  • Managing and overseeing events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event setup, communicating with staff, and organizing vendors, and managing take-down and follow-up processes
  • Keeping inventory of equipment used by or accessible to renters and handling the repair and replacement as necessary
  • Ensuring all contractual agreements are met by both parties and that leasing rental procedures and policies are followed
  • Developing new processes and improving upon old processes to streamline operations and reduce inefficiencies
  • Issuing invoices and collecting payments in a timely manner and creating comprehensive and readable financial reports
  • Creating sales opportunities for future events during client liaisons and during events
  • Creating and managing an annual budget including meeting revenue targets
  • Conducting inter-department debriefing meetings for rentals
  • Creating and maintaining a system of customer feedback through phone calls, surveys, etc.
  • Managing part-time Ponyride Concierge staff who support during the events/rentals, and ensuring that all events are properly staffed
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (desired but not required)
  • 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to present ideas to potential clients and vendors
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to develop systems and processes
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to learn new systems
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a budget
  • Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen and provide leadership which results in the best possible work environment
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative to develop or improve upon processes
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as manage multiple projects at the same time
