Range: 4

Wage: $17.86 -$18.21

Hours:  6am-2pm

Summary of Position:

Provide house supervision and guest services to all Crisis Shelter guests. Provide overnight security, do emergency intakes with families and see that the Crisis Shelter is a safe, clean environment. Work with House Manager and volunteers to build a cohesive team the honors God and works together to fulfill a common purpose.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises overnight security, including grounds and cameras of the Crisis Shelter and all guests. To include supervision of guests assisting staff overnight at times.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key Result Area #1: Overnight Security

  • Upon arrival and periodically through the night secure the building by checking all gates and doors.
  • Watch and listen at night while making security rounds and check cameras to assure safety for all guests.
  • Has participated in an evacuation drill quarterly and is aware of and practiced in emergency evacuation procedures
  • Deescalate and address guest safety issues that may arise.
  • Document intakes and any overnight guest interactions.
  • Watching cameras and being aware of safety concerns.
  • Knowing standard operating procedures and responding as appropriate.

 

Key Result Area #2: Communicate Clearly and Effectively

  • Share concerns with the House Managers.
  • Document key events of the night.
  • Accurately track extension, late exceptions, work verifications and chapel attendance.
  • Communicate effectively utilizing all resources in communication; email, database, snapshot and phone

 

Key Result Area #3: Crisis Shelter Nightly Operations

  • Read and follow CS Standard Operating Procedures
  • Participate in intake training process and procedures
  • Track and manage available beds.
  • Report maintenance issues to House Manager
  • Provide a safe clean environment.
  • Answer phone and do emergency family intakes as needed; check no intake list and assure the safety of the shelter.
  • Complete, maintain and update administrative tasks and assorted computer tasks.
  • See that all class materials are readily available; make copies when needed.
  • Keep supplies stocked ready for check-in and create an inventory list of items needing to be restocked.
  • Assist late real-life workers with check-in and provide saved plates upon return from job
  • Do laundry as necessary.
  • Respond to situations in a calm and composed manner.
  • Pray for/with guests and over the environment.
  • Sort and maintain donations that come in.
  • Be aware of any safety or security issues and address them promptly.
  • Ensure that the dining room is stocked and maintained to meet health standards and ready for breakfast.
  • Complete other jobs assigned as requested.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Computer literate with a high proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook; able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and instructional.
  • Prove to be teachable: organized with the ability to work as a team and individually; able to listen and follow instructions.
  • Show ability to listen empathically, respond appropriately in emotional situations, and resolve difficult guests related issues in an understanding way with the goal of maintaining relationships.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

  • Work is primarily indoors. It requires climbing stairs, walking, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching - Continuously.
  • Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about the house on a regular and ongoing basis – Continuously.
  • Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.

 

Equipment/ Tools Used:

  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and email

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferable 2+ years working with homeless families
  • Experience using computers, multi-line phone system, excellent interpersonal skills, Microsoft office including excel and word.
  • Experienced in de-escalation training
