Job summary:

Transports passengers (residents) to and from various destinations, assisting passengers in and out of vehicle and assuring that all passengers follow safety requirements, such as wearing seat belts. Also is responsible for the appearance and mechanical condition of the Manor's vehicle.

Essential duties and responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned.

Ensure that maintenance is performed on all vehicles, adheres to a schedule of weekly maintenance checks.

Have 90-day safety check performed and keeps records of the safety inspections.

Pick up and deliver mail to Post Office and assist in sorting mail at the Receptionist Desk when needed.

Assist with answering and transferring in-coming phone calls.

Provide coverage at Reception desk when co-worker is out sick or while on vacation.

Assure that mail and packages are delivered to recipients in a timely manner. If recipient no longer resides at the Manor, ensure packages are forwarded to the appropriate address.

Maintain log of long distance phone calls and receipt of pharmacy prescriptions. Take reservations for Conference rooms and Guesthouses for meetings and overnight stays.

Transport Residents to and from various destinations, assist them in and out of vehicles and assure that proper safety requirements are followed such as wear of seat belts.

Follow all safety requirements set forth by the State and Carmel Valley Manor.

Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follow established safety procedures, use appropriate safeguards, and observe common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

Conduct self in a manner that reflects credit on Carmel Valley Manor and encourages others to do the same.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language and follow oral and written instructions.

 

Maintain a current and valid DMV Class B California drivers’ license with Passenger Endorsement and good driving record. 

 

Have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

 

Have the ability to deal tactfully and work harmoniously with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

 

Have a good moral character.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and see.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.  The employee must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.  The employee stands, walks, stoops, kneels, bends, and drives.  Work is usually performed in daylight hours but may be performed during hours of darkness.  May be required to handle heavy objects and work in all kinds of weather conditions. 

 

Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability to be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress relating to and working with ill, disabled, and elderly within the facility.

 

The employee must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position, and have the ability to relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at time hostile people within the facility.
