Description

Summary:

An Application Engineer 2 is part of a team that designs and develops software applications using a wide variety of tools. The Application Engineer 2 is expected to be conversant in core. Agile software development principles and methodologies, particularly Scrum. He or she  performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.

The position reports to the Internal Project Team or Technical Lead, as assigned, and typically takes direction on assignments from senior team members. He or she works on projects/matters of limited complexity, growing towards larger projects and independent work. The position requires an ability to review requirements, identify missing or ill-specified aspects, and make accurate cost and schedule estimates for well-described work.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to typical working hours, meeting deadlines, following customer company and policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with the assigned supervisor, and staying focused on the assigned tasks.

***Position is remote but will have physical offices in Mechanicsburg,PA and NV***


Responsibilities:

  • Review requirements and develop accurate estimates
  • Identify and resolve ambiguities with customer requirements
  • Develop well-structured code with appropriate documentation
  • Thoroughly test developed code to minimize any discrepancies
  • Generate and maintain project documents, including Jira, YouTrack, or SmartSheet tickets. Update tickets or stories in a timely manner
  • Works closely with other team members to ensure requirements are thoroughly understood and the application is complete with a seamless look and feel
  • Work in teams with modest supervision
  • Follow established UI/UX and software coding standards
  • Support the Software Development process (e.g. SAFe, Scrum)
  • Effectively communicate with customers and other team members
  • Take ownership of system and software to ensure minimal defects
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve production issues
  • Exercise technical leadership and participate in mentoring and coaching junior team members, as well as supporting and performing supervisor duties as needed
 
Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 0 - 2 years of experience developing applications in C#, Python, Java or other modern programming language
  • 0 - 1 years experience with RDBMS such as Oracle, Sql Server, Postgres, MySQL
  • Basic understanding of Agile software development methodology


Preferred:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (typically requires U.S. Citizenship)
  • Current, appropriate DoN Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) qualification such as
  • CompTIA Security+
  • 1+ years developing software in an Agile SAFe or Scrum team
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
