The Lead Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. In addition to the position’s functional duties and responsibilities, the lead serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert for his/her function. The lead position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, but may schedule and direct the work flow of the section and review and give input on the production performance/work of the workers on his/her functional work team. The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for his/her function.
  • Assist supervisor with the development and coordination of reports to meet all maintenance related quality objectives from supervisor.
  • Assist the supervisor with ensuring major projects and program schedules and plans are met.
  • Assist the supervisor with reviewing quality control and safety plans within the direction and guidance of management and site UXO personnel to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Apply applicable regulations and inspects all phases of a variety of work, services or operation for conformity to established quality, health and safety, and other operational standards by performing on-going work for compliance with contractual provisions as it pertains to assigned section.
  • Responsible for safety and production requirements within the organization.
  • Perform and assist assigned work force in analyzing customer support requirements while coordinating with site UXO personnel to facilitate a safe operational work areas for staff and customers.
  • PMCS of equipment, inventorying of commodities, selection of type of storage within compatibility requirements, inspection of customer and site equipment, while maintaining familiarity with U.S. Army ammunition regulations, technical manuals and local SOP procedures.
  • Mentors and assist with on-the-job training and cross-training.
  • Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages.
  • Route materials to prescribed storage locations.
  • Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
  • Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials.
  • Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage.
  • Remove material from storage and prepares it for shipment.
  • May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
  • May schedule and direct the work flow of the section.
  • May review and give input on the production performance/work of the workers on his/her functional work team.
  • Perform other related duties, as required.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of three years of working knowledge of ammunition handling.
  • Must have a minimum of three years of retail warehouse experience in a military environment.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of operating 2-6k forklifts, electric / diesel.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Must have a valid and current/or obtain a Class D driver license.
  • Must be able to obtain a military operator’s permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to perform all FDP activity functions including forklifts up to 15k.
  • Must have or must pass all required applicable training certifications IAW AMC 350-4 and DA PAM 385-64.
  • Must have or be able to pass Transportation of Hazardous Materials (Ammo-62).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have knowledge of ammunition regulations.
  • Must be able to complete paperwork associated with ammunition.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate or obtain a license to operate electric and diesel powered forklifts.

Special Physical Or Work Conditions Required For The Job:

  • Must be able to lift between 75 lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Must utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and strenuous conditions.
  • Must be able to meet short suspense dates.
  • Must be able to conduct work in the out-of-doors area with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions i.e. extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of stooping; climbing; standing; and sitting for long periods of uninterrupted time.
  • May require shift work.
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • During the usual work period, the worker may be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable.
