As a Laborer I, daily work will involve placement of fiber optic and copper or power cables, conduits, enclosures, vaults, cabinets, poles and related equipment. Most of the work is underground/excavation projects which includes frequent shovel work. Laborer I Responsibilities/Duties: Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction and maintenance work Assists equipment operators by spotting/swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructions Drives commercial vehicles equipped to transport a variety of materials and equipment Complete daily paperwork in an accurate manner Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance Works with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, demo saws and other industry tools Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump trucks Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards Commitment to safety in all work We offer a full range of benefits including: Health, vision and dental insurance options Paid holidays and Paid Time Off (PTO) Life insurance Short-term and long-term disability insurance options 401k retirement plan with a company contribution Our Company: We have been in business in New Mexico for nearly 30 years. We perform work for a variety of communications, power, and fiber optic and data/cell providers. We have 7 offices throughout New Mexico and an office in El Paso, TX. Job Type: Full-time Hours: Operators/Laborers report to headquarters at 7-8am. Typical day could include an 8-10-hour shift Monday-Friday. On-call rotation is required. Pay: Based on Experience. Paid Bi-weekly. Hourly employee.   Position Requirements Job Qualifications: 3 years of experience in a labor-intensive environment 3-5 years of experience in the construction, underground or power industry Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, grasp, push, pull and reach on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis Time management skills Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Required to travel out of town to work on projects of varying length approximately 10% of the time CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement preferred Valid DOT Medical Card required   Open Date 9/15/2022   Close Date 9/30/2022   EOE Statement We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
