Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Marketing and Advertising, the Database and Evaluation Specialist will fill a dynamic role at the Academy Museum. You will guide, support, and perform the collection, management, analysis, and interpretation of data as it relates to general museum admission, group sales, museum screenings, along with education and special ticketed programs. The Specialist will also discover and deliver insights that drive organizational improvements and success.

You Will:

  • Manage data integrity and consistency of information, ensuring accurate tracking of key metrics (ticket sales, program attendance, special events attendance, survey data).
  • Support in the use and updating of monitoring tools such as dashboards and outcome reports.
  • Interpret data to identify patterns and relationships that may identify organizational strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develop and execute analytic projects that address organizational needs to demonstrate and/or inform improvements.
  • Produce regular reports on museum admission sales, program and screening attendance, audience engagement, and more.
  • Present data-driven insights to a wide variety of stakeholders through succinct summaries of findings with data visualizations.
  • Work closely with IT and external agencies to develop and execute audience and awareness surveys.
  • Interpret data results to identify trends and outcomes to enhance programming and marketing efforts.
  • Develop efficient data storage and analysis practices that are well aligned across departments.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
  • 3+ years of applied research and/or evaluation experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with database systems (Salesforce); familiarity with ticketing systems like Ticketure a plus.
  • Experience with quantitative and quantitative analysis and data visualization, including a solid foundation in statistics.
  • Demonstrated initiative to drive projects that demonstrate organizational impact and are self-motivated.
  • Effective organization and project management skills combined with flexibility, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager is a plus.
