JOB SUMMARY:

As the first point of contact, this position is responsible for the delivery of excellent customer service to all members, guests, and program participants of the YWCA of Minneapolis. Member Services Associates are also responsible for assisting in the implementation of membership service and security systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist members, guests and potential members

  • Greet and welcome members and guests as they enter and leave the facility and connect them with the membership department if necessary.
  • Check in members and guests for health club and facility entry following site procedure.
  • Serve as reception for prospective members interested in health club membership.
  • Serve as an information resource for members and the general public.
  • Answer and direct phone calls following established etiquette and protocol.
  • Conduct walk-trhough visits inside the FEMALE locker room
  • Manage COVID 19 meausres related to social distancing and cleaning.

Contribute to providing a customer service focused environment

  • Provide members, guests and fellow team members with legendary service and enhance their sense of belonging and inclusive community within the club.
  • Be professional and positive in your interactions with all members and guests.
  • Create and deepen relationships with members and guests to enhance their sense of belonging.
  • Take ownership of member concerns and complaints proactively and in a timely, professional manner.
  • Provide direction to members about locations of classes and YWCA agency program services.
  • Sell and process series sales for private swim lessons, personal training, YWCA retail and products, etc.
  • Process and register customers for classes, lessons, workshops, trainings, etc.
  • Accountable for accuracy in computer, cash register and daily deposits.

Stay current with and enforce all YWCA rules, regulations, policies, and departmental goals.

  • Stay informed on facility and program memos and changes upon each shift worked.
  • Provide proper information on policies, practices and guidelines.
  • Respond quickly and professionally in an emergency situation according to department policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required departmental meetings and trainings as outlined in departmental expectations.
  • Handle daily cash deposits according to departmental policies and procedures

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Member Services Coordinator at each of their respected sites who reports to the General Manager. Position will work closely with their fellow Member Services Associates from the other YWCA of Minneapolis locations. Other key relationships in which this position will work closely with include the Manager on Duty, membership sales and accounting team, and YWCA members and guests.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience.
  • Strong oral, computer, and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with members and guests and work with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and perspectives.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work effectively under stress of multi-tasking during busy work times.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must have excellent conflict management skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Preferred:

  • Experience or knowledge in the health and fitness field.
  • Bilingual Spanish or Somali.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires standing for long periods of time.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

 

PERK: FREE YWCA Minneapolis Health & Wellness Membership to all three of our sites plus $4 monthly rate for each household members. 

COMPENSATION: The pay range for this position is $15.00-$17.81 per hour (depending on qualifications)
