POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Benefits Coordinator is responsible to coordinate HR initiatives in the support of strategic business goals as it relates to benefits provided by the company. The goal of this position is to manage communication and relationships with employee and strategize benefit opportunities that will enhance the overall employee relationship.

REPORTS TO: VP of Human Resources

SUPERVISES: N/A

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers various employee benefits programs, including group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), FMLA, wellness and any other ancillary benefits.
  • Coordinates Annual Wellness Screenings.
  • Assist with 401K audits and 5500 filings
  • Coordinates benefits orientations and self-enrollment system.
  • Coordinates communication strategy that keeps employees informed of the benefit opportunities and changes that are continually occurring with benefits within the organization.
  • Works with Insurance Broker to maintain accuracy with reporting and regulatory expectations as it relates to benefit administration.
  • Maintains employee personnel and benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Assists employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims, questions, or enrollment guidance.
  • Assists HR Director in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company and employees.
  • Manages employee/company information as it relates to benefit programs.
  • Assumes other duties and/or projects as assigned by the VP of Human Resources

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or business field is preferred, or two or more years in HR or related experience.
  • HR Generalist knowledge preferred.

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Maintains compliance with the organization’s confidentiality policy.
  • Monitors MWEC processes to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies and with the guidelines set by relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Develops implements, maintains and evaluates quality control studies in an effort to improve services Midwest Eye Consultants provides to others.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of people and able to meet deadlines.
  • Possess an array of general office skills, such as typing, data entry and handling mail.
  • Awareness of MWEC’s mission and have an understanding of basic filing procedures.
  • Organized, adaptable, professional and able to follow the instructions of their supervisors.
  • Good working knowledge of all benefit plans, payroll and HRIS software, 401K plan.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak clearly and employees understand language without misinterpretation or confusion.
  • Professional maturity, appearance and demeanor required, and ability to work with multiple departments.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Physical Activity: Talking, Hearing, Repetitive motion.
  • Physical Requirements: Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Occasional travel is required for this position and requires a valid driver’s license.

 

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

The Senior Benefits Coordinator will be required to maintain an understanding of the following areas:

  • HR Generalist
  • Employee Benefits
  • Ethical, Moral, and Regulatory Standards

In addition, the HR Benefits Coordinator will be required to attend educational seminars related to Human Resources and Benefit Administration.
