Description

We have a rewarding opportunity for a bilingual Sr. HR Business Partner who strives to provide an exceptional employee experience for our diverse workforce of approximately 275 nationwide. This role requires agility as the people side of the business means no two days are alike yet there is one constant: your efforts and ideas will directly impact all levels of employees. Success in this role will be demonstrated by ensuring compliant and uninterrupted benefit coverage, being known as a trusted resource with all levels of employees as well as external partners/service providers, and exceeding goals in the areas of inclusion and wellness. You will utilize your English/Spanish bilingual skills—speaking, reading, writing, translating—on a daily basis in the coordination of benefits and leaves of absence, management of training resources, data management and reporting, on/offboarding and more.

To best serve employees and learn our processes and culture, this role will initially work 100% onsite at our corporate offices in Hopland, CA however may later transition to a hybrid of 80% onsite/20% remote.

Essential Responsibilities:

Employee Relations and Engagement

Shape the employee experience from point of offer through entire span of employment. Provide day-to-day employee relations support and guidance regarding human resource practices, interpretation of company/human resources policies, problem resolution and compliance with federal and state laws. Coordinate and manage on/off boarding—offer, new hire orientation and agendas, exit interviews and feedback. Participate in ongoing continuing education in legal compliance and HR best practices; serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for HR-related questions and issues. Participate with employee investigations, employee misconduct and policy infraction; support with translation and documentation of these cases, as needed. Support in developing and modifying policies and processes to enhance, increase clarity and ensure legal compliance, as needed. Lead/assist with employee engagement projects such as employee recognition/years of service programs, events and wellness campaigns.

Benefits and Leaves of Absence

Provide day-to-day support to employees in the area of benefit administration. Ensure timely and complete enrollments, direct claim inquiries to appropriate parties, create COBRA records in TPA system and assist with open enrollment planning and execution. Responsible for LOA processing including but not limited to providing appropriate federal and state notifications, providing leave-related paperwork, medical certification and return to work documentation, short and long term disability programs, pay coordination, interactive process interviews and related tasks. Working with the Payroll team, coordinate all extended vacation leave processing, including international travel tracking. Ensure proper and timely handling of COVID-19 protocols—travel, leave tracking, contract tracing and return to work.

HR Systems and Compliance

In conjunction with Director of HR Operations, maintain a pristine HRIS client with real-time data entry and management, craft structure changes as needed, develop landing page content on Employee Self Service (ESS) portal. Generate reports and compile complex datasets using Excel (including pivot tables); analyze metrics/data to show trends and provide insightful analytics. Assist with the compilation of data required for annual filings including but not limited to EEO, benefit NDT, OSHA headcount and the like, as needed. Track I-9, employment authorization and visa compliance. Research and suggest ways to leverage existing and new technology to reduce data entry by maximizing features of HRIS and other systems resulting in more robust on-line resources and a reduction of print/paper use. Team lead for ensuring that all employee related files are compliant, audited, complete, filed on time and retained in accordance with proper guidelines.

Training and Development

Coordinate required training activities over a variety of forums—virtual, in-person and in conjunction with external partners. Responsible for scheduling and tracking completion, capturing/recording data and producing any required metrics. Take administrative ownership of third party training partners and programs. Lead internally-conducted training campaigns. May assist with training needs analyses and core skills assessments.

Recruitment and selection

Support talent acquisition-related efforts in the areas of interviewing, updating job descriptions and recruitment of seasonal and hourly labor positions. Upon selection, accountable for a seamless candidate experience from point of offer through onboarding.

Translation

Support HR, Safety and Payroll teams with professional level translation and interpretation including but not limited to employee disciplinary actions, performance reviews, paycheck inquiries and safety incident investigations. Primary resource for Spanish speaking employees needing assistance with any and all concerns, benefit and payroll inquiries, and related items.

 
Position Requirements

Must Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field preferred with five to eight plus years of related professional and administrative experience; or equivalent combination education/experience
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or related designation highly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to independently manage projects to completion
  • Ability to independently develop reports, pull appropriate data sets, utilize tools to manipulate data which contribute to informed business decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, independently plan, coordinate and complete projects with accuracy and within designated timeframe
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts, employees, vendors and guests
  • Advanced computer skills in HRIS systems, Google Suite, Word, PowerPoint, email, Excel, Publisher, internet and related programs.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift /carry up to 50 lbs. on an occasional, push and pull up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis; ability to sit and work at a desk for long periods of time; requires ability to walk and stand; reach outward and upward, squat, kneel, and bend; requires hand and finger dexterity for keyboarding and working at computer for extended periods of time.
