Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
Regional Deaf Services is a regional program providing linguistically and culturally competent community mental health services for individuals age 6 + who are Deaf or hard of hearing (HH), late deafened, or deafblind and who reside in Southeastern Virginia and are served by one of the 9 community services boards in Health Planning Region 5. These 9 CSBs are: Hampton/Newport News, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Western Tidewater, Eastern Shore, Colonial (Williamsburg), and Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck.
The Regional Deaf Services Coordinator will initiate program development, assess service delivery needs, and coordinate services throughout HPR-V Region. Provides evaluation, consultation, and as indicated, direct treatment including, group and family counseling, educational sessions, and discharge/aftercare planning for the deaf and hard of hearing clients.

Requirements:
Minimum of Master’s Degree in Human Services with three (3) years clinical experience in a clinical/hospital/psychiatric care setting including therapeutic counseling, crisis intervention and case management functions for persons who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Must be fluent in the use of American Sign Language. Please submit your Department of Motor Vehicle driving record current within the last 60 days.
As a condition of employment with Hampton – Newport News CSB, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID 19 or fit within an exemption under the law. Accordingly if selected, employment is conditioned on providing proof of vaccination or having an approved exemption prior to starting employment.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
