Job Summary

The Lab Technician Associate is responsible for the testing of the sand products. This Associate will perform quality testing procedures by using chemicals and industry-specific lab equipment. Associate should understand the process, interpret lab results, make recommendations, and work with Dry Team to ensure the process is back in control based on product lab results. Record test results in the BMC Quality System and other BMC business systems. Other tasks would include understanding the processes for all plant areas and the ability to cross-train in those areas. Badger Mining offers generous benefits, competitive wages, and associates are eligible for immediate profit sharing.

  • Previous lab experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with SDS sheets

Job Specific Responsibilities 

  • Perform the calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Obtain and maintain samples to perform testing requirements including but not limited to sieve, turbidity, and crush tests of washed and screened sand grades
  • Understand control plans, product grades, and testing requirements
  • Knowledge and ability to implement BMC’s Quality Control Plan including entering testing data in the quality software
  • Understand product specifications and which products need to be produced 
  • Analyze test results from defective or suspect results and determine the cause of failure under the direction of the plant or operations
  • Understand customer quality specifications and sample requirements
  • Report and assist in correcting out-of-spec processes at the wash plant and dry screen building
  • Learn and understand plant operations
  • Ability to use and understand BMC Intranet, Quality Software, and other necessary business systems
  • Read and understand work instructions for this area and areas cross-trained in
  • Safety completes pre-shift inspections for workplace examinations and eliminates hazards as they are recognized
  • Able to cross-train and help with additional responsibilities as needed
