Shipping and Receiving Specialist 

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and record computer entries for all inbound materials
  • Inspect incoming parts for count accuracy and ensure no damage.
  • Package and prepare finished goods, work in process, and other materials for shipment
  • Perform necessary identification and paperwork in connection with shipments or receiving
  • Accurately document all information required in shipping and receiving activities
  • Complete correct computer entries for all inventory transactions
  • Delivers the incoming materials and parts to a warehouse location, production, and other support departments.
  • Stage and stock parts to proper locations.
  • Loads and unloads outgoing and incoming truck shipments.
  • Use forklift to move inventory throughout the warehouse and production area.
  • Package all parts neatly and securely for shipment.
  • Set up UPS, FedEx, or any other small parcel shipments.
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization
  • Complete documentation, follow processes for paperwork and report any discrepancies
  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
  • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard mechanical parts. 
  • Self- starter with good focus and responsive to multiple coworker requests. 
  • Exceptionally well organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, lifts, cranes, and hoists.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as Bills of Materials (ideally in manufacturing), operating and process instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience using an ERP, MRP, or Inventory Management System is desired.
  • Demonstrate basic math and computer skills.

 

Education and/or Experience                                            

High School graduate or equivalent plus 2-3 years’ experience with shipping, receiving, inventory in a manufacturing environment.

 

Work Environment

The employee works in a manufacturing assembly environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
