SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Human Resources the Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and conducting employee related tasks such as investigations and recognition programs. The Employee Relations Specialist will handle multiple assignments efficiently with a keen attention to detail, and a commitment to follow projects and tasks through to completion.The ER Specialist will exercise considerable latitude and discretion of action, using good judgment when carrying out assignments which may be sensitive and confidential in nature.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct and assist with employee relations incidents and Desert Regional Center related investigations.
  2. Develop and maintain employee appreciation and recognition programs throughout the organization, ensuring that positive culture reinforcement is embedded.
  3. Liaison with managers to ensure performance coaching requirements are met and coaching effectiveness is assessed.
  4. Assisting with drafting, editing, and conducting performance related conversations between supervisors and team members.
  5. Launch, evaluate, and share annual employee survey.
  6. Collaborate within the HR team to conduct team member exit interviews.
  7. Facilitate learning opportunities for new leads and supervisors in coaching and performance management.
  8. Evaluate and deploy performance measurement programs throughout the organization.
  9. Be the HR conduit for organizational special projects such as OPSP and change management, board reports, and annual goal setting.
  10. Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, tracking employee performance programs, ordering supplies, maintaining supply inventories, and coordinating distribution of employee program materials, i.e., years of service, promotions and transfers, etc.
  11. Perform data entry related to employee relations, and for other Human Resource department needs.
  12. Support Human Resources as an essential member of the departments team.
  13. Performs to duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).

  • Ability to manage emotions and maintain neutrality.
  • Technologically savvy; Microsoft Office, database management, etc.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to think critically; define problems and draw valid conclusions.

  • Extremely organized; able to manage multiple projects and priorities with ease.
  • Must have a professional and positive demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with team member across the organization.
  • Ability to take initiative, work productively independently, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Human Services, or equivalent work experience.
  • Required: Minimum four years’ experience managing and navigating difficult workplace situations.
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification or ability to acquire certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Required: Crisis Intervention Instructor certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Required: Reliable transportation. Able to travel to different locations throughout day.
  • Preferred: Experience working with people with disabilities
