SUMMARY

Operates secondary equipment that machines powder metal parts by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.

Responsible for operating CNC and/or manual equipment in the Secondary area with the ability to make most adjustments to the machines to ensure part quality.

Must have the knowledge to be able to operate the majority of machines in the Secondary Department, however, not all machines have been mastered.

Load and unload lathes and perform the required gauging on the parts in order to meet the required specifications.

Check the coolant level of machines with a refractometer.

Know how to read and understand control planes in order to know the part specifications, how to inspect the part, and how often to inspect the part.

Have the ability to fill out Min/Max charts to ensure the part is within specications.

Other duties may include, but are not limited to sorting of product, deburring of product, assembly of components using various mechanical devices

Clean up chips that build up in machines and sweep/tidy up the area daily.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

The employee must be familiar with procedures for non-conforming material and have the ability to implement them when required. He or she has the authority to stop production if a part is found to be non-conforming. The ability to distinguish between parts that meet the required specifications and parts that do not is a very important aspect of the job. Employee is also responsible for reporting non-conformities to the Quality Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). At least three weeks of training and/or experience on each machine in order to learn how to run them effectively.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, correspondence, memos, and charts. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization. Must be able to communicate with supervisor and lead-off as necessary.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must have the ability to recognize a problem and act accordingly to eliminate that problem.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level of the work environment is usually loud.
