Each year, the agency's continuum of care and its 300+ professional staff help thousands of youth and their families achieve resiliency, dignity, and self-sufficiency. We operate therapeutic group homes, a treatment foster care program, and family help center located in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Prince George County. We also service students in our nonpublic special education programs in Baltimore City and Prince George's County. The Children's Guild also operates public charter schools located in Anne Arundel and Baltimore City and will open our first DC charter school in September, 2015.                                                     Director of Clinical Services

Role Description 

To provide clinical oversight and create systems to support the integration of clinical services for all programs of The Children's Guild.  Responsible for the initiative, development, management and delivery of the clinical practices of the Children’s Guild.  The focus of the Director’s efforts will be on creation, refinement and deployment of a clinical model consistent with a Tranzed cultural approach.

Accountability: 

This position is accountable to the Vice President of Children’s Services.  Must also work collaboratively with all Program Directors. 

This position administratively supervises the Senior Psychiatrist and clinically the Student Services Supervisor, Family Life Education Supervisors, Academy Clinical Coordinator and Senior School Counselors. 

Skills/Responsibilities: 

KRA # 1 Creation, Refinement and Deployment of a clinical model consistent with a Tranzed approach: 

This task is successfully completed when: 

a.      Best practices have been researched and identified to align with organizational philosophy and approved by executive management team for deployment.

b.      Outcome measure systems are developed to evaluate effectiveness of the best practices selected.   

c.      Selection, implementation and deployment of best practices have occurred across all programs.

d.      Routine evaluation for quality of clinical services/practices occurs.

e.      Communication is effectively and confidently shared with staff and outside sources.

f.        A close working relationship is established with the VP of Children’s Services to ensure alignment.

g.      Alignment of selected practices occurs between the medical and clinical domains.

h.      Systems are created, deployed and maintain for assessing the impact of the proposed models of operation.  

KRA # 2 Administration and Supervision: 

This task is successfully completed when: 

a.         Collaboration with the Baldridge Leadership Team on deployment of the Baldridge Criteria for Educational Excellence is sustained.

b.         Collaboration with the Quality Improvement Committees on the implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan and alignment with best clinical practices occurs on a regular basis.

c.         Collaboration with Program Directors to execute clinical models of best practice is evident and routine. 

d.         Regular meetings with staff are held to assure that innovations are being sustained.

e.         The VP of Children Services receives regular updates and audit reports to ensure sustainability.

f.         Performance assessments are regularly reviewed.

g.        Regular supervision is provided to designated staff.

h.        The creation of operating procedures and manuals are produced to align with existing and new initiatives. 

KRA # 3 Professional Development:     

This task is successfully completed when: 

a.      Participation in, and graduation from, The Children’s Guild’s Pre-Service Training Program has occurred. 

b.      Participation in The Children’s Guild’s College of Transformation Education meets the minimum requirement of 12 Guild Education Units (GEU’s) per full year of employment.

c.      Participation in campus in-service trainings and agency in-service trainings is evident.

d.      Licensing and continuing educational requirements are met.

e.      Staff talent and areas of improvement are identified and a professional development plan created to maximize contribution to the clinical model. 

f.        On-going training occurs to ensure deployment of the clinical model approaches.

g.      A collaborative relationship has been established through staff development in identifying training needs to ensure full execution of the clinical model. 

 

KRA # 4 Continuous Quality Improvement:

This task is completed when: 

a.      Continuous Quality Improvement reports are submitted to the VP of Children’s Services.

b.      Surveys/ audit tools are created to assure consistent deployment and execution of the proposed clinical model.  Surveys/audit tools are distributed and data aggregated to observe program effectiveness (stakeholders, parents, students). 

c.      Regular participation at the CQI quarterly meetings is evident. 

 KRA # 5 Other Miscellaneous Responsibilities: 

This task is completed when: 

a.     Certification in the organization’s chosen behavior intervention program is obtained.

b.      Evening meetings are attended as requested.

c.      All other duties as requested by the VP of Children’s Services.

d.     Weekly attendance at the Leadership Development Team Meeting occurs.

 

 

 

 
Position Requirements

Academic Preparation and/or Experience: 

Possession of at least a Master's Degree in Social Work as an LCSW-C  and supervision certification and 5 years experience in administration, supervision or program management in a mental health, social service or special education organization. 

The qualifications of this position include the interest and drive to develop the potential of other people and the interpersonal skills necessary to do so.  The successful candidate will also possess a value system that is consistent with the organization’s philosophy and goals, demonstrate leadership skill, be mentally alert, physically healthy and possess the stamina needed to work with children in a dynamic environment.  The person in this position must also possess a desire to grow, learn and change, and to serve as a role model.
