Description

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Manage an extensive pipeline of diverse, ground-up and renovation projects.
  • Collaborate with owners, architects, and Asa Carlton personnel on construction projects throughout the many phases of project development and execution.
  • Manage the efforts of the Preconstruction/Estimating staff as it prepares detailed estimates.
  • Manage workloads and schedules of self and subordinates to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare and analyse cost models during the preconstruction phase and/or bidding period.
  • Assemble General Conditions in collaboration with Asa Carlton's operations team.
  • Develop and maintain a cost history database to be used in developing budgets and estimates throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Remain up to date on trends in the industry with respect to estimating methods and technology, methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wages and related costs, productivity rates, and working rules.
  • In collaboration with Asa Carlton's project and operations teams look for opportunities to lead process improvements, project delivery, and other progressive practices.
  • Foster and enhance Asa Carlton's relationships with owners and architects.
  • Develop and ensure adherence by staff to Asa Carlton's estimating policies and procedures, as well as other corporate policies and procedures.
  • Participate in meetings with owners, architects, Asa Carlton's personnel, subcontractors
  • and others in pursuit and execution of Asa Carlton's work.
  • Hire and actively develop pre-construction and estimating staff. Facilitate comprehensive training and development of staff for successful careers with Asa Carlton, and in the industry.
  • Work with professionalism at all times including with: Supervisor, peers in the company, others in the company, and all external contacts including owners, owner's representatives, architects, subcontractors, etc.

Position Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • Ability to coordinate or manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

Education and Experience:

  • Educational background of top candidates could be from and/or a variety of fields including Preconstruction, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering (Construction, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural), and other related fields.
  • Ten or more years of experience in management-level positions in Commercial Construction will be expected of top candidates.
  • Experience working with Commercial Construction (retail, commercial office, healthcare, life science, food and beverage, commercial interiors, and ground up construction).
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Skill set to include cost estimating and estimate analysis (conceptual, schematic, design, and construction), RFP/Q preparation and analysis, scheduling, knowledge of various construction methods and installation procedures, purchasing, contract negotiations, presentations, and management of personnel.
  • Candidates will be technology literate and proficient in the Microsoft environment (Excel, Word, Outlook) and estimating software platforms (e.g. Estimating software platform).
  • Experience in Lumpsum, Cost Plus, GMP and CMAR contracting models.
