The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Vice President, Education and Public Engagement, the Education Specialist will be an essential participant in the conception, planning and implementation of the Museum’s education programs. You will provide administrative support in addition to programmatic administrative support to ongoing and frequent education programs. Primary responsibilities include scheduling, keeping files and communication organized, ordering, tracking against budgets, and programmatic support. The position is seeking an energetic, responsible, detail-oriented, and highly organized candidate.

You Will:

  • Support the Vice President, Education and Public Engagement and Education and Public Engagement Department with scheduling meetings, meeting agendas, and note taking including tracking action items and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate office processes including ordering supplies, budget tracking, processing invoices, and maintaining organized files.
  • Support the department by organizing a master education program calendar, creating runs-of-shows, and handling program specific logistics.
  • Assist with logistical arrangements for visiting filmmakers, artists, and guests.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to ensure effective and efficient communication and processes.
  • Support the department by helping to coordinate a system to maintain filing systems, records, and attendance data for education and public programs.
  • Support programs on an as-needed basis.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience in an administrative role supporting a department.
  • Knowledge of museum education best practices.
  • Ability to multi-task, project manage and move work forward in timely and efficient manners.
  • Experience with PC’s and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Superior organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment and identifies as a team player.
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate evening and weekend programs.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
