Share Email Opening Title Direct Support Professional - Wilson Day Program  About the Organization Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grown to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state. Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.   Description The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall support to individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. The individuals served are affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the individual’s home and/or in the community providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan of care. Examples of the type of duties include assisting the individual with personal care, preparing meals/snacks and assisting with taking medications. The Direct Support Professional also provides training opportunities in the areas of communication, recreation/leisure skills and appropriate behaviors. For some assignments, the DSP transports/accompanies individuals to a day program site and other activities in the community.   Position Requirements High School diploma or GED from an accredited school is required. Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule is expected. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays. In most positions, a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the agency’s insurability standards is essential. Course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and behavior management. Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data. Persons must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and the work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling.
