What You Will Be Doing:

Primary job responsibilities include supervising and managing Behavior Health services in Trumbull and Mahoning County. Working with parents/guardians, clinical staff, and community-based resources, the Behavioral Health Operations Manager facilitates access to care and addresses barriers. This position reports to the Director and works closely with all other departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees daily operations of the Behavior Support Services in the Youngstown programs to include After-school, adult day treatment program, community-based services and the MSY emergency respite home. including staff, schedules, curriculum, and assigning referrals.
  • Responsible to interview, hire, onboard and facilitate staff training.
  • Provides supervision of Behavioral Health staff in assigned programs.
  • Trains and consults with staff regarding psychosocial needs that encompass mental health, development, and diversity of individual clients to increase staff knowledge and skills.
  • Follows up with program inquiries and completes intake process for new individuals joining the programs.
  • Coordinates transportation routes and supervises fleet drivers.
  • Maintains close contacts with schools serving program participants
  • Develops a comprehensive social history and psychosocial assessments that includes the client’s problems, strengths, and preferences, including cultural, religious, and ethnic background and implications for the care plan.
  • Facilitates development of Individual Services plans and assures timely completion.
  • Provides oversight and assures that Assessments, Progress notes and other related treatment documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates clinical services and crisis support for emergency respite services.
  • Collaborates with Behavior Specialist to determine and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral-social interactions of clients and their families.
  • Identifies curriculum for Adult and Children’s Day Treatment programs. 
  • Liaison with parents, schools, and community partners. 
  • Orients clients and families to the program, its services, its service limitations, and clients’ rights.
  • Identifies and assesses psychosocial and life skills needs through analysis of factors impinging on client adjustment including factors in the home, center, and community.
  • Determines and implements appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral-social interactions of clients and their families.
  • Provides individual and group therapeutic counseling to clients and their families, within the day program, MSY, and center-based services.
  • Initiates collaboration and consultation on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues affecting client participation in the learning process with the client’s supervisor(s) in implementing strategies to promote client learning during counseling sessions.
  • Conducts staff development on issues related to social-emotional-environmental factors that impact treatment with a strong focus on evidence-based intervention.
  • Works closely with Intake department, psychiatry team and psychology team to promote coordination of care and integration of clinical services.
  • Maintains all required clinical records and submits appropriate documents for statistical reports with adherence to program standards in social work.
  • Attends meetings and professional development activities as required.
  • Monitors budget and productivity for staff.
  • Establishes positive working relationships with community stakeholders and other organizations.
  • Works closely with Marketing department with a goal to increase services for the Youngstown programs.
  • Works in close conjunction with BH staff to ensure ISP implementation and high-quality service delivery. 
  • All other assigned duties.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, demonstrating professionalism with both co-workers and parents and consumers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to stay focused.
  • Ability to network and establish positive working relationships with community stakeholders and other organizations.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge of children and adults with co-occurring developmental disorders and complex behavioral health issues, including children with autism.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to show tact and diplomacy when dealing with parents, clients, peers, and staff.

Required Education and License:

  • Licensed through the State of Ohio as an LSW/LPC/LISW/LPCC.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or Counseling.

Preferred Experience & Education:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling.
  • Two (2) years of supervised social work experience in a health care setting, working directly with individuals.
  • Experience working with youth with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Experience working with adults and youth with mental health disorders.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant. (Training will be provided, if not already certified).
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the programs.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
