SUMMARY


The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the volunteer programs associated with the Resource Development department and group volunteer coordination across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers for fundraising events and projects.
2. Works with local organizations and corporations to develop partnerships and ongoing volunteer engagement.
3. Develops and implements standards and training for all volunteers.
4. Maintains updated records on all volunteers utilizing digital and web-based systems.
5. Reports to volunteer operations manager and fundraising event staff.
6. Develops and implements volunteer recognition programs and appreciation events.
7. Other duties as assigned.
 

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
• Ability to collaborate within a team environment, acting as a liaison with multiple internal and external customers.
• Leadership abilities to organize large groups.
• Must have a public speaking aptitude for presentations.
• Time management skills to organization and prioritize office work in combination with volunteer organization during events.
• Ability to navigate and utilize volunteer CRM for communication, tracking and reporting.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities, but does supervise a large volume of volunteers 100+.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Required: Bachelor's degree in communication, business, hospitality, related field or equivalent.
• Required: Three or more years more of successful work experience in volunteering, customer service, fundraising, community outreach or a related field.
• Preferred: Prior experience as volunteer coordinator for public or nonprofit employer.
• Preferred: Prior experience in event planning.
• Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

• Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 pounds.

• Ability to tolerate stress.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and interpret verbal communication.
• Ability to conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.
• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
• There are evening hours and weekend responsibilities with this position that may require extended hours.
