Collections and DAM Systems Administrator 

Description

Reporting to the Director, Digital Management Systems, the Collections and DAM Systems Administrator provides technical expertise, day-to-day administration, and broad support for software solutions and standards used within the Digital Management Services (DMS) platform. The platform is an integrated system of services managing the Academy’s collections catalog, digital assets, preservation workflows, and online access to the collections of the Academy Margaret Herrick Library, Film Archive and Museum of Motion Pictures. Systems supported include Axiell Collections, Arena, OpenText Media Management and LibGuides. Using your strong attention to detail and efficiency, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, complex data updates, system configurations using vendor-specific application development tools, creating and modifying workflow scripts, creating and running indexes, creating custom reports and outputs, and testing of new deployments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support multiple information management systems and their backend databases, as well as search, edit, and report interfaces for desktop and Web use using database software and coding in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and XSLT.
  • System configuration of Axiell Collections using Axiell Designer application development tool.
  • System support for LibGuides content management platform.
  • Ensure usability, efficiency, and organization of data structures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, following up with vendor support staff when necessary.
  • Create testing plan documentation and workflow documentation.
  • Migrate data between systems including performing data transformations.
  • Perform updates of online databases.
  • Test new software deployments and bug fixes.
  • Support a diverse community of users with a wide range of computer skill levels.
 
Position Requirements
  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program in Library and Information Science a plus.
  • Experience working with database systems and/or online public catalogs in a museum, library or archive or other cultural heritage institution.
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience working with XML and XSLT.
  • Familiarity with running SQL queries a plus.
  • A high level of comfort with learning new software tools.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical information and translate for a less-technical audience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
