Salary range: $16.00/hour

Hours:

Full-time: Monday - Friday:

  • 8:30am-10:00am; 1:30pm-7:30pm (split shift)
  • Hours subject to change in the summer

Part-time: Monday-Friday: 2nd shift

  • 1:30pm-7:30pm
  • Hours subject to change in the summer

What You Will be Doing
We want people to join our team who share our values of love, excellence, respect, empowerment, and well-being. The ideal candidate will safely transports children and/or adults we serve to & from their homes to programs in Youngstown. The driver ensures the vehicle is in good working order before & after use.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Report any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs to the Transportation Coordinator immediately.
  • Follow preplanned routes to ensure the efficiency of travel.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
  • Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport individuals with autism, behavioral health conditions, or developmental disabilities between schools, work, and/or other activities.
  • Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order following the checklist before & after use.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Follow safety rules as individuals are boarding and exiting vehicles.
  • Ensure everyone has exited the vehicle.
  • Pick up and drop off individuals at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules.
  • Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
  • Keep vehicle interiors clean for passengers.
  • Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures.
  • Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, etc.
  • Complete training as required.
  • This position may have time in between routes when assistance is needed to support the program which could include organizing supplies and setting up rooms for activities, sanitizing program areas, picking up supplies for the daily program, and other tasks as needed.

Minimum Education/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance; insurable driving record (five points or fewer).
  • Defensive Driving training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant. (Training will be provided, if not already certified).

Preferred Education/Qualifications

  • Experience transporting individuals or small groups.
  • Experience working with people with autism, behavioral health conditions, and/or developmental disabilities.
