Process Technician - 3rd Shift (Plastic Injection Molding) 

Description

This position coordinates the set-up and tears down of injection molds. Including assistance on the development and maintenance of the molding process.

  • Locates, safely transports, and stores the injection mold in accordance with established guidelines and procedure
  • Installs and removes injection molds from assigned presses.
  • Set-up and prepares auxiliary/ secondary support equipment as required at the press
  • Follows proper set-up/cycle sheets, set-up checks and floor operation procedures
  • Document Process changes.
  • Maintains part quality on presses
  • Monitors all presses in during their shift / sets alarms on the machines assigned
  • Monitors process control for presses as assigned.
  • Conducts mold PM once per shift or more as required in all presses that are running.
  • Verify documents are correctly filled out prior to set-up sign-off.
  • Takes shots of parts and visually checks them for defects, logging information into paperwork.
  • Operates forklifts and overhead cranes while conducting mold set-up.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe and clean working environment.
  • Make walk through with previous shift technician
  • Make hourly checks of presses running in assigned area. Check for lost cavities or any other problems, this should help eliminate unnecessary down time. If there is a problem with a press let the production supervisor know and together problem solve
  • Other tasks as assigned by lead.
 
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 2 Year technical or trade school with emphasis on injection molding or equivalent job experience.
  • 5 Years working as a process technician manufacturing of plastics
  • Valid identification and the ability to legally work in the United States.
  • To write clearly and legibly reports and correspondence
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic resins, mold set up and functions of an injection molding press is required; processing on injection molding machines; statistical process controls is preferred.
  • Technical mathematical computations (example: add, subtract, and divide in all unit of measure, using whole numbers and decimals, and statistical inference)
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Ability and willingness to problem solve.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and readily adapts to changes necessary to support the business.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals;
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization
  • Understands and has basic knowledge of computer databases and systems. Preferably Epicor and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Walking and stair climbing is required within the office/shop areas.
  • May be required to stoop, climb, lay down and other various position in order to perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing of the arms, legs, wrists and fingers are physical requirements.
  • The position must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unaided
