Base Wage $16.50 - $18.15 per hour

SAL Community Services connects the community to services that ensure every child can succeed in school and life, and every adult has access to basic human needs like food, counseling, child care, and housing. We do this by listening, learning, and acting to help individuals and families navigate the barriers that prevent them from moving their life forward in a positive way.

The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) Specialist position is a critical member of our Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois team, a program under SAL Family and Community Services. In the role, you get to help families find child care providers and determine if they’re eligible for child care assistance and support the Illinois Department of Human Services. You will:

  • Work with low income families to determine eligibility of state-funded programs;
  • Strengthen the child care system to connect child care providers with families and children; and,
  • Guide families through the child care assistance program process.

Qualifications

Must obtain background clearances, be fully-vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, have a High School Diploma or GED, and complete physical tasks such as sit, stand, lift 25 pounds, use fingers and hands to type, and communicate with individuals. SALCS operates Skip-a-Long Child Development Services - early care and education centers in Iowa and Illinois, The Home Child Care Network - a network of licensed and license-exempt home child care providers in both the Quad Cities and Peoria areas, Open Door - a crisis assistance program funded by IDHS to help individuals and families in crisis navigate local social services, SAL Child Care Connection - the child care resource and referral program in Peoria, IL, the Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois that serves the Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding counties, and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships that serve Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois.
