The Position:

FSA is hiring for a new opportunity in Carpinteria! The Mental Health Therapist provides trauma-informed and culturally appropriate individual and family therapy services to youth and families referred by the school. The Mental Health Therapist will provide a range of counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services to the assigned caseload.

FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization. Because working with those impacted by trauma can affect staff in various ways, FSA actively identifies and employs methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for both themselves and others.

Sample Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides individual and family therapy as well as parenting education, skills training, and relationship enhancement at the school site, home or community setting.
  2. Teaches effective communication, healthy discipline and healthy coping strategies.
  3. Empowers and provides stability and support for the family.
  4. Provides all methods of case management services to clients as assigned. Ensures case collaboration with community agencies in linking families with needed resources appropriate to the treatment plan.
  5. Provides crisis intervention and referrals to clients on the assigned caseload.
  6. Utilizes the Perceived Collective Family Efficiency Scale, CRIES-8, ACE Questionnaire, and PHQ-A assessment tools when appropriate.
  7. Provides consultation to school staff, such as teachers, school counselors, and administrators.
  8. May conduct classroom or community-based presentations on social-emotional related topics at the discretion of the principal or school district officials.
  9. Maintains collaborative relationships with members of the START team, School Social Worker Team, school site, and other community-based agencies. Participates in case conferences and attends meetings in regards to assigned caseload.
 
Position Requirements

Employment Standards:

  1. Masters degree in social sciences required.
  2. AMFT or ASW required.
  3. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  4. Minimum of two years of clinical experience working with youth and families required.
  5. Must have a valid California Drivers License, valid automobile insurance, and a vehicle.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

  • This position is full-time (40 hours/week), non-exempt, with benefits. Benefits include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts and 403(b) retirement plan. Generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave also offered.
  • Pay is dependent on education and experience.
