Description

The Director Software Development designs and defines the technical roadmap for the organization.The position oversees a team of technical leads, software developers and provides direction and support for IT solutions and delivery. The candidate works closely with the management team and internal/external stake holders to identify key technology initiatives needed to support future business growth, develop new technology strategies, and provide cost-effective technology alternative solutions. The Director of Software Development must be hands on and be able to actively engage with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Development Managers and Lead Engineers to influence architectural design, execution strategies, prototype new approaches, provide guidance to solve complex technical challenges.

 

Strategic Architectural Contribution

  • Directs and influences the architectural direction and software development in accordance with LERETA’s strategic business objectives
  • Identifies and develops new technology strategies to meet challenges of a high growth business environment
  • Mentors and coaches’ teams in developing cost effective, robust, and highly scalable systems

 

Systems Delivery

  • Directs the delivery of our products and solutions to meet market competitive needs
  • Leads the support of production systems to meet or exceed customer Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) expectations
  • Collaborates and coordinates activities for Change Control Management and Program Management
  • Collaborates and coordinates Quality Assurance (QA) support activities with QA Team throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Defines and communicates project milestones, service level agreements, resource allocations to executive management team, department leads and end users
  • Collaborates and coordinates deployment support with IT and DevOps teams

 

Requirement Identification

  • Partners closely with Product Development to identify product requirements and works with the team to develop execution plans
  • Develops, reviews, and approves technical design documents

 

 

Technical Leadership

  • Assists in development of short term, medium term and longer-term plans to achieve strategic objectives of the company
  • Directs research and identifies potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities and scaling of existing systems
  • Develops and implements plans to cross-train team in processes, products and technologies to develop high-availability systems
  • Provides leadership representation of team(s) at interdepartmental meetings and executive leadership meetings to facilitates the team’s decision-making process
  • Provides recommendations and directs action plans to improve departmental performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Provides mentoring, and coaching to employees in areas specific to key performance indicators and career growth
  • Maintains oversight of all strategic and tactical initiatives, ensuring that commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored, and reported
  • Monitors and reviews code, estimates, work in progress, and solutions produced by developers
  • Tracks and assists with establishing and enforcing standards and sound development methodologies

 

This position will perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the department.

 

 

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Computer Science or in a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Director or Managerial role
  • 10+ years of experience leading and motivating development teams
  • Minimum of 15 years of software development experience
  • 10+ years’ experience with one or more of the following technologies: .NET, ASP.NET, MVC, or Node, Java, React, and relational databases and data analytics, such as Microsoft® SQL Server™ and Oracle™
  • 5+ years’ experience with modern SPA frameworks like Angular, React, etc.,
  • 5+ years’ experience with version control technologies like Microsoft Team Foundation Server, GitHub, Subversion, etc.,
  • 5+ years’ experience with build automation tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, TFS, etc.,

 

Preferred Education & Experience

 

 

  • Successfully led large scale cloud migration initiatives in Cloud, in Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud platforms
  • Deep experience in Containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.,
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
  • Expert level understanding of Build Automation and Modern Dev Ops practices
  • Deep understanding of test automation framework and integration with CI/CD processes.
  • Experience in digital transformation from on-prem to cloud, including SDLC methodology transition from waterfall to agile
  • SAFe experience
