Who We Are:

The YWCA Minneapolis Director of Human Resources plays a critical role in achieving organizational business functions. As a senior leader in the organization, the person in this position oversee all human resources (HR) functions ranging from policy, to compliance to recruitment, to advising supervisors and managing the day to day operational details critical to HR functions. About This Role:

  • With executive leadership team, establish and implement Human Resource efforts that effectively communicate and support YWCA’s mission, values and strategies
  • Evaluate continuously and strive for improvements in HR design and delivery
  • Develop and manage to annual human resources budget
  • Oversee, lead and personally deliver training programs within the YWCA Leadership Academy
  • Function as a strategic business advisor and partner to the senior leadership team
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, retention and hiring standards, procedures, and practices
  • Oversee the employee engagement process and ensure action plans are developed and implemented
  • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
  • Oversee compensation policy and maintain compensation program (pay ranges and pay grades)
  • Monitor all pay practices and systems for effectiveness
  • Oversee benefit administration, open enrollment and coordinating benefit processes with third party vendors
  • Collaborate with CFO to obtain cost effective benefits for employees including a self-insured medical plan.
  • Ensure the YWCA of Minneapolis models Human Resource best practices, while ensuring alignment with local, state and federal employment laws
  • Lead YWCA Minneapolis compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth
  • Identify and monitor the YWCA Minneapolis’ culture so it supports the attainment of our goals and promotes employee satisfaction
  • Keep the Sr. Leadership Team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of YWCA Minneapolis' goals, and those that are not being addressed adequately

Provide Leadership and Supervision:

  • Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives
  • Supervise, develop and provide leadership for Human Resources staff
  • Facilitate personally or through subordinates, development activities that align with operational or strategic plans and YWCA mission and values
  • In conjunction with Risk Officer and YWCA Safety Committee, ensure compliance of employee health and safety

Relationships:

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Critical relationships include Senior Leadership Team Vice Presidents, Leadership Team, and key internal and external stakeholders and constituencies.

 

 
Position Requirements

What You Will Bring:

The position requires a grounded, yet visionary professional with a deep commitment to the values of the YWCA Minneapolis with a demonstrated ability to develop and lead high performing teams.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development
  • 5+ years of demonstrated progressive HR expertise with a minimum of two+ years’ experience in a leadership role with experience in leading human resources staff
  • Ability to effectively represent the organization and be an ambassador for its mission and programs
  • Ability to work effectively on a collaborative basis with a wide range of constituencies and stakeholders in a diverse community

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development.
  • PHR or SPHR certification or equivalent; demonstrated mastery of human resources core tenants
  • Experience with developing and administrating employee benefits programs
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Training Development design and delivery

Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time
