JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing, coordinating and serving a nutritious and cost-effective food program within Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements for an Early Childhood Education Center.

Daytime hours 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Order food and supplies in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack daily. Prep in advance when needed.
  • Follow YWCA menus and recipes.
  • Assist in creating menus.
  • Complete daily duties checklist of daily responsibilities to effectively run a shift, follow kitchen maintenance daily and weekly schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen at all times in accordance with MN Department of Health standards.
  • This position may require assisting in a classroom and interacting with children on a limited basis as needed. Handle overall food-related site documentation, recordkeeping:
  • Follow all special diet statements and ensure substitutions are prepared for allergies or as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of quantities of food prepared daily and number of children and adults eating meals in accordance with CACFP requirements by completing Food Production Records daily.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/ General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must obtain first aid and CPR within 30 days
  • Must obtain Food Protection Manager Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must attend Child and Adult Food Program Basics training. Preferred:
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Current Food Protection Manager Certification.
  • Experience in cost effective food purchasing.
  • Strong understanding of nutritional and whole foods basics and CACFP requirements.
  • One year of cooking experience preferred

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Individual must have the ability to get to and from various sites/events/meetings in the metro area on an occasional basis.

 

COMPENSATION: The pay range for this position is $17.25-$18.90 per hour (depending on qualifications).
