Our comprehensive cardiology group is expanding and looking to add to our team.

Cardiac Solutions utilizes a personalized, team-oriented approach to patient care promoting wellness through education, innovation, and technology. We offer intensive educational opportunities for patients through our disease management clinics and employ a multidisciplinary approach which includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacy support, medical assistants, and additional clinical and non-clinical support teams. Our focus helps to prevent the progression of heart disease and minimize patient hospital admissions.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

This role is responsible for various Medical Assistant tasks, this is not an all-inclusive list nor is the position guaranteed to perform each and every function. The incumbent may be required to travel to all West-Valley Practice Office locations. Pay ranging from $18.50 to $23.00+ per hour depending on experience and education.

  • Brings arrived patients back according to the patient’s scheduled appointment time.
  • Requests recent medication list from patient or offers them a medication card to complete and then reviews medications with patient to ensure accuracy.
  • Takes and records patient’s vital signs.
  • Obtains updated information from patient, such as recent hospitalizations, recent cardiac tests from other facilities, allergies/reactions, and pharmacy name/location.
  • Ensures patient’s chart is updated with all pertinent information prior to their appointment.
  • Reviews patient’s orders tab to check for needed ECG or any other necessary testing during appointment.
  • Checks and follows up on in process assignments weekly.
  • Responsible for refills in both Faxcom and the EMR system(s).
  • Stocks cubbies with necessary supplies
  • Ensures ECG machines are continuously working properly.
  • Checks the schedule for each day to review scheduled patients and confirm the physicians that are in the office.
  • Responsible for checking the physician’s folders and distributing items.
  • Coordinates with other inner-office departments for requested checks and testing.
  • Maintains and stocks area, samples closet and exam rooms.
  • Responsible for plugging in and powering off laptops at the end of each clinic day.
  • Works with department point of contact to keep patient flow organized and efficient.
  • Assists other departments with patients and task assignments.
  • Updates Reps phone numbers and ensures they are accurate.
  • Maintains clean and clutter-free work area.
  • Creates and routes phone notes to the appropriate person or department
  • Responds to all patient questions, returns all calls and voicemails within 24 hours.
  • Processes and completes all items assigned in the clinical check out bucket within 24 hours.
  • Sort and process all documents in Faxcom that is assigned to triage
  • Assist with processing of any prescription refills
  • Review all Rx renewals daily for any unmatched patients
  • Checks cardiac clearance and clarification folders routinely
  • Creates and routes all cardiac clearance request as appropriate.
  • Creates and routes all dental clearance requests as appropriate
  • Address after hours phone notes for Physicians if not previously addressed
  • Check emails, clinical check out flags, and patient portal messages and respond as needed daily.
  • Process all Patient Assistance and Prior Authorization forms, documents, and flags
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of medical practice and patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
  • Skill in taking vitals and ECG’s.
  • Ability to travel to all office locations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced-environment and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have successfully completed and graduated from a Medical Assistant, Electrocardiogram Technician, or equivalent program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office or health care field as a Medical Assistant or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working in a Cardiology office preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and detail oriented.
  • Medical terminology and familiarity with cardiac medications strongly preferred.

DRESS CODE/UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

This position is required to wear Cardiac Solutions approved uniform.

  • No scrubs or uniform tees, other than Cardiac Solutions’ approved scrubs and tees are permissible.
