POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Accessibility Services provides oversight to the Accessibility Services Center which works to ensure access for every student (graduate and undergraduate) with a disability by removing barriers in design, promoting disability as an aspect of diversity, and creating a campus where access and inclusion are seamless. The Director serves as the primary contact for disability-related issues and questions, including responding to inquiries, overseeing the evaluation of associated documentation as appropriate, developing programs and processes in support of the accessibility needs of our students, and applying appropriate ADA law for student accommodation purposes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain policy and procedures related to providing student accommodations and a broad range of accessibility services in support of students with disabilities.
- Oversee and provide ongoing support services to enrolled students with disabilities.
- Remain current with legal and technological advances related to accessibility support.
- Serve as a member of the University's Behavior Intervention Team
- Participate in campus-wide committees as assigned or appropriate.
- Manage and coordinate response to accessibility-related inquiries from current students, prospective students, family members of current or prospective students, high school teachers and counselors, and Moravian University faculty and administrators.
- Oversee the evaluation process to determine if documentation indicates that a condition qualifies as a disability under applicable disability law and coordinate with appropriate offices to determine reasonable accommodations.
- Oversee and assess the Disability coaching program, to guide and support student involvement in their education with accommodations and development of academic coping skills.
- Facilitate assistive technology training and shared responsibility in developing a view of shared ownership to be used by a diverse range of students with disabilities.
- Support ongoing professional development and awareness programs for faculty, staff, and students with a mind toward countering ableism and supporting disability rights.
- Support the training process for student employees such as resident advisors and peer tutors to increase capacity and skill-building when working with students with disabilities.
- Ensure that staff and faculty are appropriately involved in the implementation of accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Provide general guidance to staff and campus event sponsors who may be involved with the implementation of accommodations for events.
- Collaboratively work to track progress, trends, and use of services as well as recommendations for future initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in special education or special education administration, school psychology, rehabilitation counseling, higher education, or a related field with 5-7 years experience with disability services in a higher education setting is strongly preferred. Candidates should have experience interpreting psycho-educational evaluations and other disability documentation, determining eligibility for disability services, evaluating the needs of students with disabilities in higher education, providing reasonable accommodations and familiarity with assistive technologies for students with disabilities. In-depth knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 & 2008 (ADAAA) is essential. Experience utilizing coaching, motivational interviewing, and Accommodate software is preferred.
