At NetSPI, we are committed to ensuring that our work complies with all applicable data protection legislation. We're seeking a Data Privacy and Protection Officer to help us oversee our management of potentially sensitive information, carry out regular internal security audits, and act as the main point of contact between NetSPI, its customers' privacy contacts and any data protection authorities. Our ideal team member will have excellent organizational, communication, and management skills, and also the ability to lead training sessions and workshops with members of staff. You will often be asked to work independently in this role, but also to collaborate with legal and NetSPI leadership. You will communicate with all relevant employees as you promote a culture of data protection compliance within the organization. This role reports to the Director, Legal Counsel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary point of contact within the organization for members of staff, regulators, and any relevant public bodies on issues and queries related to data protection
  • Ensure the company's policies are in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and codes of practice, and any other applicable data protection legislation
  • Evaluate the existing data protection framework and continue to ensure compliance
  • Inform and advise the company on all matters related to data protection
  • Promote a culture of data protection compliance across all units of the organization
  • Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements
  • Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with legal and key stakeholders
  • Implement additional measures and oversee privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with data protection regulations, including developing templates for data collection, assisting with data mapping, and vendor management reviews.
  • Devise and hold training with staff members across different business units who are involved in data handling or processing
  • Proactively conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance and address potential issues
  • Maintain records of all data processing activities carried out by the company
  • Handle operational matters related to data privacy between NetSPI and its customers as well as NetSPI and its affiliated entities.
  • Serve as the point of contact between the company and customers or any data protection authorities
  • Ensure the company implements and maintains customer contractual privacy requirements, with assistance from legal

WHAT SKILLS WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL?

  • Expertise in data protection laws and practices including an in-depth understanding of the GDPR
  • Experience within a legal, audit and/or risk function department
  • Strong project management skills and thorough operational knowledge in how organizations gather and process personal data
  • Experience in developing policy and compliance training
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to undertake large, long-term projects, develop alternative methods to complete them, and implement solutions.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR YOU TO APPLY?

  • Minimum of three years' experience working in data protection compliance or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related writing and presentation software
  • Hold at least one Data Protection and/or Privacy certification such as, CIPP, CIPT, ISEB, etc., (preferred).
