About the Role

Working under limited supervision, the Lead Maintenance Technician maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This position is responsible for performing and overseeing skilled work in the following areas: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, boiler, wastewater and general maintenance of equipment/structures and resolving emergency situations by taking appropriate corrective action and completing or assigning the repairs needed to ensure that systems are operational and are functioning safely and efficiently.

Outcomes

  • Create a high level of equipment availability through Planned Maintenance in order to minimize unscheduled repairs or equipment failures as measured by the departments KPI's. (Survey- Did your equipment run properly today? / On-time W.O. Completion)
  • Through daily huddles and technician coaching sessions, maintain consistent communications with plant operations for scheduling, planning, and training purposes. Meet or exceed established KPI's and individual goals.
  • Use 2 Second Lean concepts to identify and implement continuous improvements and systematic problem solving to remedy root causes. Documents a minimum of one CI improvement monthly.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the Maintenance Manager with regards to accomplishing tasks, ordering parts, and assigning CMMS work orders.
  • Carries out diverse skilled activities involving the repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities; Assists and engages in thorough troubleshooting of diverse technical issues and tasks.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of new Technicians.
  • Oversees Maintenance Technicians and provides ongoing training to maximize the efficiency of the work force and meet shift requirements.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications. Accomplishes Dupont Level 3 Technician Training.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains records and reports as appropriate
  • Communicates with production management planned repairs and/or maintenance of critical plant equipment to minimize down time.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Required Credentials

  • Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 10 or more years of experience or the equivalent.
  • Equipment Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Technical Zeal, Deals with Uncertainty, Basic Safety, Power Tools, Attention to Detail, Flexibility, Supervision, Job Knowledge, Productivity
  • Must possess the knowledge to operate basic computer software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as work with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Required to provide own master set of tools.
  • Must have a valid driver license.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or guide up to 50 pounds individually or more than 50 pounds with assistance.
