Position Summary: 

Responsible for supervising the Quality Control technicians, lab, and testing/auditing activities while supporting the Quality Manager in daily site needs.  Employs a variety of measures to place quality at the heart of an organization. Helps ensure that all internal products are tested against Cheer Pack’s quality procedures/specifications.  Uses and develops related work instructions and sampling/testing routines, following established control plans. Promote a positive outlook to adapting to ever-changing customer requirements.  

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, some college preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in quality/manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Good basic computer skills.
  • Prior inspection experience, 1 year+ preferred.                             
  • Quality-oriented - Attention to detail - Organized and thorough
  • Basic computer knowledge is required
  • Experience in printing/lamination, food packaging, or food manufacturing a plus

Essential functions and responsibilities:

Responsible for compliance, safety, and security of products

Taking direction from the Quality Manager, directly supports all product testing, ensuring test data is entered as timely and efficiently/accurately as possible

Approves in-process and finished goods production by confirming products meet specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating any issues or required adjustments

Sample Testing: Acquires required samples from designated areas/points and completes testing in lab in accordance with control plans.  Records results in the Quality Tracker, lab files, and/or other records as required, and communicates with Supervision and staff any concerns

Process & Line Inspections & Audits: Records inspection results by closely observing production activities, in-process records, and personnel activities as they relate to Quality/GMP.

Product & Trial Materia Identification & Containment: Helps ensure products are appropriately labeled (e.g., green sheets, MRB pink slips, MRB yellow sheets). Conducts inspections and testing on incoming (received) materials. Helps monitor measuring and testing equipment for correct usage. Masters all required testing approaches and assists supervisors across the production floor with training/re-training of personnel on inspection tests and procedures as warranted.

Quality Lab: Assists the Quality Manager in overseeing the Quality Lab, including all measuring and test equipment and gauges within the lab. Fulfills lab requests from the organization, completing in order of priority as directed by the Quality Manager. For all lab requests, issues related reports and findings to appropriate parties and save all information. Maintains organized and thorough computer-based files for the lab including lab requests/logs (open and complete), photos, trial status testing, routine and annual reports, and calibration records. Assist in the management and supply of lab instruments, utensils, and supplies.

  • Supervises and helps train, track, and schedule Quality Technicians
  • Assists QA Manager and others with MRB and RMA dispositions, as well as testing as needed, ensuring 100% completion of records in IFS for each assigned case (closing cases)
  • To support the team and site, participates in any required staff/supervisor meetings, offering meaningful and accurate quality data, results, or information as needed or requested.
  • Assists in complaint or defect investigations, and the verification of corrective actions.
  • Attends Supervisor meetings, reports quality issues, and assists in solving issues.
  • Report any potential food safety, or quality of food defense concerns to the Quality Management & Manufacturing managers
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures

Success factors/job competencies:

  • Report to work on scheduled days, on time, and perform all daily duties in a safe manner
  • Display clear ownership of the lab and related areas by ensuring they are clean and organized
  • Directly or through delegation to QC Technicians, log and fulfill:
  1. lab requests including but not limited to ad-hoc requests and qualification trial requests within 7 days for general and 14 days for qualification-based requests upon receipt of samples unless otherwise instructed
  2.  retention sample requests and studies as they relate to customer complaints or internal MRB/holds
  3.  site calibration requirements including up-to-date calibration status and documentation
  • Ensure the lab issues clear and complete studies and reports regarding its activities as required, being sure to save and track 100% of records so they are readily retrievable
  • Support the floor/production by helping to identify quality parts and non-conforming parts in accordance with company specifications as needed
  • Lead staff by example.
  • Displays an excellent attitude and communication skills

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection.  Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves
