Job Summary

The Pirates’ enterprise systems play a key role in driving results and provide essential support to our overall business strategy. We are seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic Systems Administrator to assist with the administration of a broad portfolio of enterprise systems, with working technical knowledge of application infrastructure and the careful interplay between hardware/software that keeps systems running in an optimal fashion. The Systems Administrator will be a caretaker of the Pirates’ North Star and Compass and will be proactive in seeking out ways to exemplify them in his/her day-to-day work.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  1. Provision and manage access to a variety of systems, including cloud-based SaaS products and on-prem custom applications; build key understanding of security roles
  2. Document and define application security/role structure and work to enforce least privilege access for all systems
  3. Apply basic understanding of networking equipment/architecture for troubleshooting purposes
  4. Act as Tier 1 troubleshooting support for reported enterprise systems issues
  5. Regularly patch and monitor Windows Server instances; review regular vulnerability reports and identify opportunities for updates/patching
  6. Monitor and address issues with Microsoft SQL Server; maintain clean database structure and assist with executing Data Lifecycle Policy; monitor SSIS jobs for failure and report to Director, Enterprise Systems
  7. Work closely with primary users to ensure systems and technologies are applied effectively to meet business objectives. Comprehend system functionality and take recommendations to users on ways to improve the use of systems.
  8. Assist with initiatives to meet various data compliance goals, including PCI, HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, and others. Work with consultants, IT Staff, and business units to address deficiencies identified in audits.
  9. Assist with development and management of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Director, Enterprise Systems

Secondary:

  1. Assist with development and optimization of Microsoft Power Platform business processes, including Dynamics 365, Power Apps, Dataverse (formerly Common Data Service), and Power Automate
  2. Develop a high-level understanding of internal codebase and assist with administration and upkeep of Azure DevOps
  3. Assist in evaluating and implementing future enterprise systems. Participate in project planning and work to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  4. Work with software vendors and service providers to conduct user training on enterprise systems. Identify training needs and plan and coordinate training as required.
 
Position Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or related field
  2. Experience with: Windows Server, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SaaS, Computer Security
  3. Experience administering systems, with focus on security best practice and least privilege
  4. Experience in database administration, including Dataverse, SQL Server, and Google BigQuery
  5. Minimum of 2 years related systems administration experience

Desired:

  1. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform development and administration
  2. Experience administering Google Cloud Platform or Azure Cloud, Compute, Networking, and Storage instances, as well as GCP-hosted applications
  3. PowerShell, Google Cloud Shell, and other shell scripting experience
  4. Experience working within Azure DevOps and working understanding of custom applications developed in .NET Framework, C#, C++, SQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
  5. Familiarity with compliance laws and guidelines related to PCI, HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, etc.
  6. CompTIA Security+ certification
