Description

This position plays a dual role coordinating two youth focused programs within Washington, D.C. The Family Market Program is a monthly farmers market-style distribution of healthy groceries, including fresh produce, and complementary nutrition education to children and their families at risk of hunger at school sites throughout our service area. The School Pantry Program is a new program to D.C. that provides shelf-stable food items and produce for in-school food pantries. The new D.C. Coordinator will help develop and implement the School Pantry Program and Family Market Programs within District of Columbia Public and Charter Schools.

The Youth Nutrition Coordinator (YNC) manages a portfolio of D.C. Family Market and School Pantry school sites to ensure quality and consistency is maintained across the programs. This position is responsible for placing food orders, collaborating with CAFB colleagues to ensure program excellence, and communicating effectively with the school site coordinators to ensure a positive experience for all clients. The YNC manages all aspects of the Family Market and School Pantry Programs including logistics, data tracking, and potentially grant management.

 
Position Requirements

Position Requirements/Essential Functions: 

Program Administration (85%) 

  • Develop monthly menu and place orders within program specifications for Family Markets and School Pantry Program;
  • Ensure monthly distribution calendar is accurate and collaboration with the Operation and Transportation Teams to ensure accurate delivery details for all orders;
  • Provide excellent customer service to school site coordinators and partners; 
  • Maintain regular communication with school sites to ensure seamless program implementation;
  • Monitor regular site distributions and provide guidance to site coordinators;
  • Address site coordinator concerns in a productive and respectful way;
  • Present Family Market and School Pantry Program site leader trainings on an annual and as-needed basis;
  • Complete all invoices and work collaboratively with Finance Department to close out monthly billing;
  • Facilitate the improvement of the program operational model with the Manager of Direct Distributions;

Monitoring and Compliance (15%)

  • Maintain and update all records and pertaining to the Family Market and School Pantry Programs specifically around grants management;
  • Manage monthly reporting and client participation as required by Food Bank or any of its supporters;
  • Monitor sites and be responsive to site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met;
  • Develop and support Service Insights and Key Survey transition at all sites;
  • Exercises safe food handling and warehouse safety practices;

Miscellaneous

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Associate degree and 1-3 years of work experience in a related field
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience in a non-profit environment preferred
  • Familiarity of nutrition and food access is a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license; Mileage reimbursement provided for personal vehicle use
  • Per the DC Gov Mandate candidates must be fully vaccinated

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Requires standing, sitting, typing, and site visits.
