Salary MIN $48,732 - MID $60,427  
Position Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, economic development, public administration, urban/public planning, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in office operations, economic development, commercial real estate development, banking, financial planning, business assistance and service, chamber of commerce, government, public and/or private finance, or workforce development.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  • Requires a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Physical Ability: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, and use the computer keyboard and mouse. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds for distances greater than thirty (30’) feet.

Visual Sensory Requirements: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Able to hear in-person; as well as, distinguish radio and telephone conversations, recognize differences or changes in sound patterns and loudness or pitch.

Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, water hazards.

Attendance:  Regular, predictable, consistent, and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the failure of such attendance undermines the City’s ability to provide critical services to employees, the department, and the public.

Description

Position Summary: This classification under the direction of the Director of Economic Development, the Economic Development Special Project Coordinator facilitates internal and external meetings, organizes economic development programs so that they run efficiently, manages key economic development initiatives to ensure program continuity, and learns how to evaluate economic development projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the economic development and workforce development pipeline to ensure proper handoff of projects between economic development staff and city departments, assisting with Business Retention and Expansion efforts as needed, and/or other economic development, redevelopment, or capital improvement programs or projects as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Coordinating economic development activities in the economic development department
  • Developing plans and analyses for economic development-related projects including responding to requests for information from companies and site selection consultants.
  • Working with the economic development team to evaluate projects on a cost/benefit basis; eventually, this role will be responsible for performing economic impact reviews on projects.
  • Assisting the economic development team with inquiries from companies and developers. This will include gathering project data (jobs, investment, site location) and packaging that data for the economic development team.
  • Ensuring that projects/updates/presentations are ready for Economic Development-related meetings, including DDAs, Main Street Board Meeting, and Development meetings. Additionally, this role will assist the team with data preparation for regular updates to the City Council.
  • Administrative duties: this role will help arrange group meetings for the economic development team and will assist the Economic Development Director in organizing meetings.
  • Manage various economic development programs as assigned by the economic development director.
  • Other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.
