Director, Instructional Services 

Description

Develop, coordinate, and direct district-wide instruction and programs in accordance with the District Strategic Plan and Core Values to optimize student recruitment, retention and placement, employee performance, facility utilization and community relations.

Essential Functions

  1. Work in conjunction with the campus directors to manage instruction, maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of Tulsa Tech, including: direct job assignment, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Assist with the appraisal of performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion and termination actions, and hiring as appropriate.
  2. Provide instructional leadership and support of career majors assuring that the highest quality of classroom instruction is maintained with smooth operation of day-to-day instruction so professional development opportunities are maximized and individual instructor performance is elevated.
  3. Provide direction to all career clusters and majors in the specific areas of development, review, program evaluations, and marketing.
  4. Work in conjunction with the campus directors to assure compliance with regulatory requirements through accreditation processes with state, regional, and national organizations.
  5. Direct all Full-Time day and evening course deliveries as well as recommend and implement new career majors and course offerings, pilot projects and special initiatives.
  6. Participate in the coordination and content preparation of class schedules, course catalogues, and web-based information.
  7. Assist with interviewing processes and skills to identify and hire full-time instructional staff (working jointly with campus directors) that possesses the requisite experience, competencies and cultural match to maintain the highest levels of customer service and instructional excellence and ability to achieve the strategic and tactical objectives of the campus and district.
  8. Recommend instructional professional development activities and training needs which align with the district’s strategic plan, ensuring that the investment in development resources targets the competencies and capabilities required by the District. Work directly with the District’s Professional Development committee (PDC).
  9. Provide oversight of ODCTE programs that provide training to instructional staff (New Teacher Academy, Mentor Training, Teacher Induction, etc.)
  10. In collaboration with instructional staff and Instructional Coordinators, make recommendations regarding the acquisition, development, implementation, and utilization of resources to facilitate on-line instruction and/or alternative instructional delivery methods.
  11. Support the development and implementation of course articulation agreements with secondary schools and institutions of higher education.
  12. Examine, evaluate, and make recommendations for technological innovations in instruction and support.
  13. Collaborate with the District’s Business and Industry Services division, Program Advisory Committees, and the Director of Business and Industry Engagement to assure currency and accuracy of existing career majors to effect early identification of new career majors in support of local business requirements and maintain relationships which promote placement of students.
  14. Provide administrative oversight for the program development function of the Instructional Program Advisory Council (IPAC).
  15. Develop, Implement, and Monitor processes for program performance measures, student achievement indicators, and career major success measures as well as implement appropriate intervention measures to effect maximum student retention, program completion, and placement.
  16. Attend various staff and committee meetings as well as district, state and industry meetings to assure alignment of career majors and activities with District objectives and Career Tech initiatives and keep staff informed regarding pertinent District changes, information and direction.
  17. Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the workgroup or worksite.
  18. Customarily and regularly manage direct reports assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion and termination actions, and hiring as appropriate.
 
Position Requirements
  • This position requires three (3) year’s experience working as a Career Tech Administrator.
  • Secondary Administrator's Certification is required
  • Must have or be able to obtain (within the first year in the position) Oklahoma Department of Career Tech Education Administrator Certificate. For information about ODCTE Administrator Certificate, visit: https://www.okcareertech.org/educators/certifications/credentials
  • Oklahoma Driver's License
  • Bilingual is a plus

Education Masters Degree is required.  
Salary Schedule SPMS  
Hiring Range Dependent on experience and education, plus additional $7,200 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
