Position Summary:
This individual will work under the direction of the department Team Leader(s). The operator will perform advanced tasks, including loading and operating industrial slicers along with other operations critical to producing our products as well as perform quality inspections and verify that product is in conformance with the specified requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Load slicer equipment programs, load product into the slicers, and manage operation of the slicers
Assemble and disassemble slicing equipment and assess equipment for cleanliness before operation
Create new slicer programs, troubleshoot problems, and perform minor equipment maintenance
Ensure that the correct raw materials are used for each SKU
Maintain proper documentation including labeling of materials and lots used in production
Assist in training on the slicing equipment
Manage Redzone data entry perform quality checks on finished products and maintain documentation in Redzone or on paper as required
Review product and notify Quality or Management of any problems or quality concerns
Follow all safety practices, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
Adhere to Volpi's policies and standard for conduct
Complete other duties as assigned
Candidate Qualifications:
Possess a high school degree or equivalent GED
Demonstrated ability working with slicers and managing programs
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
Must be able to do basic data entry and basic arithmetic
Must be a team player with a positive attitude
Must be willing to assist in other departments as needed
Must be willing to travel up to 5 overnight days per year for training purposes

Must have the ability to make coordinated movement of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble large and small objects
Must be able to stand for entire shifts with periodic, bending, reaching, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
Must be able to safely walk and work around machinery and knives
Must be able to wear a hairnet, latex gloves, hearing protection, as well as any other PPE
