Share Email Opening Title Family Support Specialist - Youth  Description Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our youth case management team! The Family Support Specialist provides targeted support services and a system of care that is child-centered while also taking into consideration both the needs of the child and the family. This position will work closely with families through a non-diagnostic interview process to assess service needs. The Family Support Specialist position will identify needs of families and help meet these needs through family and community sources first. This role will additionally assist in keeping the family together and preventing an out-of-home placement. The Family Support Specialist will recognize the individual child consumer and his/her family has different barriers to social, economic and employment opportunities and has varied levels of need to overcome these barriers. To be effective, the Family Support Specialist will work with children in their homes and communities, incorporating the entire family in the Wraparound process and focus on their strengths as well as the child's chronological and developmental age, and cultural heritage. Essential Job Duties: Provide support for the child and his/her family. Be a member of the family team to assist in the strengths assessment and wrap plan development. Increase collaboration with families and professionals. Complete and submit flex forms for the families as needed. Advocate for the family in the agency setting, and with other agencies and organizations identified. Educate the family concerning agency interactions, benefits and programs. Provide consultation and expert advice to management regarding family plans and advocacy. Complete training in order to meet the requirements for billable services and/or adjunctive services, i.e. specialized certifications, case management, SOC training and updates Attend or speak at conferences as needed and assigned by the Project Coordinator. Other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator   Position Requirements Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Current Kansas Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Experience with raising or living with a child who has who has emotional problems or have family member who has emotional problems. Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support staff in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team to maximize services available. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers, consumers, family members and the public. Ability to effectively interact with staff, consumers, family members, administration and the community, both in person and on the telephone. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding consumer information. Ability to work well under pressure meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency while maintaining a balance between good physical and mental health and the job requirements. Personality and presentation of oneself demonstrating the ability to work with various agency systems while maintaining objectivity and cooperative attitude. Exhibit ability to effectively organize and plan field-work schedule to best service and maximize the needs of consumers, i.e. arranging home based meetings, agency meetings, and care coordinator meetings.   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Shift -not applicable-   Hours Mondays - Fridays, 8am-5pm with 5 hours after 5pm required within 40 hour workweek.   Pay Range $12.50/hr - $14.42/hr   Division PACES   Number of Openings 1   About the Organization Wyandot Behavioral Health Network (Wyandot BHN) is a family of organizations serving the behavioral health needs of Wyandotte County, Kansas, and beyond.
