Wyandot BHN is seeking a full time Communications and Development Specialist that will play a key role in helping Wyandot BHN reach our goals of engaging those we serve, staff and community partners, donors, elected officials and supporters. You will create compelling stories and strong messaging that will expand and improve our communications channels to educate and inspire. You will keep an eye on current news, trends and events and keep the Director, CEO, Executive Directors, Board and staff advised of important information.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Development, CEO, Executive Team and front-line staff to direct and execute communications programs by Developing and implementing internal and external communications plans.
    • Produces communication materials built on storytelling and coordinate timely and accurate production/publication of print and digital communications.
    • Contributes to the advancement of the organization through social media by managing editorial calendar to ensure consistent posting of content and responses on four active social media channels: Facebook, Facebook (PACES), Twitter
    • Attend organizational and community events and to capture photos, video and content to share across all communication platforms.
  • Manage all Wyandot websites and serve as liaison between organization and outside web developer to monitor performance of website.
    • Develop content for websites including writing and image management for blog posts and featured content.
    • Manage website content for five sites through content management system (CMS): responding to requests for content updates, troubleshooting issues and ensure all content is accurate, up to date and free of errors.
    • Use Google Analytics to monitor traffic and usage on all five sites.
  • Manages Constant Contact email engine by maintaining up to date and accurate of internal and external email lists for communication proposes.
    • Grow our lists by collecting email addresses and working with agency representatives to make collection easy, responsible and efficient.
  • Assists Director by actively seeking, engaging and participating in community outreach events in the community-hosts information booths, answer questions, and distribute materials as appropriate.
  • Produce quality organizational events by helping to prepare and execute plans, collaborate with agency leaders, contact vendors, negotiate contracts and promote events to the staff and community.
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, non-profit management, human services or related field. Equivalent work experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of three years’ of previous experience writing and publishing organizational communications, including social media communications. Experience with donor communications a plus.
  • Experience with behavioral health, social services and/or non-profit preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including exceptional writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills and group relations.
  • Professional experience managing websites and social media platforms, including creating and managing original content.
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to recognize and prioritize activities in alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Must be diplomatic at all times, while exercising excellent judgment and discretion as appropriate.
  • Must be able to articulate the vision, mission and values of the organization through writing and presentations.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to other Wyandot BHN agency locations, businesses and community sites to meet organizational needs. Minimal additional travel may be required for conferences.

Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Shift Days  
Hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evenings or weekends for events.
