Unit Manager- Moutainside NJ

Staff Development ? Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings to maintain current certification and as managed by regulatory agencies and company policies. ? Participates in QAA process ? Attends and participates in Circle of Care classes ? Participates in the Nursing Leadership Development Program Quality Process ? Promote an understanding of the vision, mission, plans and standards of the organization and nursing services within the defined areas of responsibility. ? Follows the ongoing QAA process steps, monitors trends, and implements performance improvement initiatives. ? Assures that individuals' rights are honored and that care is delivered according to those rights and the individual's wishes. ? Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of healthcare using root cause analysis and monitoring outcome trends. ? Facilitates and participates with the nursing staff in daily care risk identification and resolution, including communication with the patients, families, and physicians. ? Involves staff in problem-solving and resolution of patient/family and staff complaints/concerns. ? Ensures adherence to Documentation Principles and Guidelines.

Leadership Fundamentals ? Accepts accountability for services provided to recipients. ? Promotes shared decision-making by providing input into care decisions and by keeping staff informed of patient care activities. ? Facilitates collegial relationships among nurse managers and other healthcare professionals. ? Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and others in planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care delivery. ? Maintains and evaluates an environment that empowers and supports nurse managers in problem solving and in decision-making to address identified issues. ? Ensures accountability for professional practice. ? Flexes hours when necessary to accommodate staff education; to address patient care issues; and to meet with family members unavailable during routine shift hours. ? Participates in weekend clinical coverage and 'on call' rotation ensuring continuity of patient care, staff supervision and availability of nursing leadership to families and visitors. Clinical Systems ? Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assists in integrating services across the continuum of healthcare. ? Promotes nursing process and critical thinking in nursing care delivery. ? Ensures patients' rights, safety, and choices are safeguarded. ? Ensure patient have needed supplies and equipment to properly manage care. ? Participates in clinical risk identification, strategy planning, and risk reduction. ? Makes daily rounds and spot checks documentation accuracy and completeness on new admissions, patients with change in condition, patients triggering occurrence investigations, and patients to be discharged. ? Visits each newly admitted patient as soon as possible upon arrival, validating accuracy of essentials audit and implementation of risk reducing measures. ? Oversees and evaluates systems to plan, promote, develop, assess, interpret, validate and evaluate the implementation of clinical programs, policies, procedures and forms. ? Oversees and evaluates systems for patient and staff data collection, information systems, and processes to support the practice of nursing and care delivery. ? Oversees and evaluates systems for discharge planning and communication to be released with patient. ? Facilitates and participates in occurrence investigation ensuring timely and accurate reporting to nursing administration. ? Ensures staff competency for emergency response and clinical care delivery. ? Ensures infection control standards and biohazard waste procedures are followed

The RN – Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising nursing personnel to deliver nursing care and within scope of practice coordinates care delivery, which will ensure that patient's needs are met in accordance with professional standards of practice through physician orders, center policies and procedures, and federal, state and local guidelines. RN – Registered Nurse Responsibilities:

  • The RN - Registered position is a staff position that has direct care responsibilities as well as supervisor responsibility for nursing assistants.
  • Administer medications and treatments timely and according to policy
  • Receive, transcribe, and carry out physician orders
  • Follows established procedure for charting and reporting all reports of incident/accidents (patients & employees)
  • Identifies and reports changes in condition to supervisor, physician and family

Educational Requirements Currently holds a RN - Registered Nurse license in this state.  
Position Requirements

Education ? Currently licensed as RN in this state; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience ? Two years experience as a RN with 1-year nursing supervisory experience. Physical Demands ? Primarily large in nature with exerting up to 35 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision.
