Description

The primary function of a Safety Technician is to facilitate the implementation of appropriate safety-related policies and procedures for onsite clients. This role is responsible for promoting safety and providing direction and guidance in relevant safety matters.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge the client representative as the work site leader and coordinate with this individual relative to the specific job operations and equipment
  • Conduct site orientations for incoming contractors and ensure the client's health and safety policies are being met and adhered to while on the location (including travel to/from site)
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with procedures
  • Assist in incident investigations and root cause analyses as required
  • Conduct site hazard assessments and safety meetings
  • Coordinate smooth crew changes and ensure that important information is communicated effectively and accurately between work crews and supervisors
  • Identify and assess any safety-related issues, ensuring that information is documented and appropriate measures are implemented to prevent ongoing problems
  • Understand and apply, as required, relevant industry practices, OH&S regulations and emergency preparedness measures
  • Maintain all required personal safety certifications
 
Position Requirements
  •  Minimum 2 years of field experience directly related to oil field drilling operations
  •  Experience working in a health and safety capacity (field and/or administration)
  •  Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to listen well and deal with others in a diplomatic manner
  •  Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  •  Computer literacy including proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  •  H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, PST/CSTS and a clean Class 5 driving record
  •  NCSO designation is considered an asset
